Ninja FrostVault Hard Cooler, Premium Heavy-Duty Insulated Cool Box, Keeps Ice for up to 5 Days, with Dry Zone integrated Fridge-Temp Dry Storage Drawer

Like most people, I had underestimated the substantive nature of the size of cool box I had ordered. Including handles, this cool box has a length of 82cm, width of 44cm and a height of 48cm. Its size means it can be carried by one person, but not when it’s full. This is a 2 person carry when full because of the size and the quantity it can take. Without anything it, it weighs around 13kg.To put more context to the weight, there is a label on inside of the lid of the cool box that suggests for best performance you should use a minimum of 11kg of ice. Add in the drinks and whatever else you wish to add, and that makes for one very heavy cool box. It wont be moves that easily when full.It’s (slate) grey, with lots of Ninja branding, which I actually don’t mind. It’s a quality brand. Black plastic handles and latches, both for the top in which you will put the ice and drinks and also for the bottom drawer where you can keep a good quantity of food dry and cool. Both are well made and need a firm click to lock meaning they won’t open when moving the cool box. On the base are rubber feet to stop the cool box sliding around.The insulation is plentiful so even though the cool box looks large from the outside, the actual volume for cans storage is much smaller and actually closer to 55cm x 25cm x 29cm height.The drawer which is located at the bottom has two compartments and a fairly shallow depth which means most not all size fruit and beg fits, but forget anything cauliflower or melon sized.On the left hand size of the cool box is a plastic screw that you can unscrew to let liquid out of the cool box. Simple but clever and negated the need to tip the cool box to empty it !!I think this cool box is great but its size means you’re not always going to be able to take it with you. Storage being the issue. Insulation works really well, although I really need to test this in the summer for a more thorough assessment. It’s big enough and solid enough to be able to store things on it, should you need the space. Premium priced but you do get what you pay for. It’s clearly well built and hopefully built to last too.I hope you found this review helpful.

I didn't quite expect this cooler to be as big as it is. You can certainly fit two people sitting on it as a small bench. Due to the size, the cooler obviously needs quite a lot of ice in the main compartment whilst it has a clever dry drawer underneath the main compartment that can be used to hold many cans or bottles. It is big and bulky, even without being filled so when fully loaded, it will be heavy and require at least two people to lift it. It is very sturdy and solid so it will obviously be able to take the weight. I haven't tested it over longer periods but it does retain the cold and keep everything frosty over a period of several hours. It would probably be useful if it came with a cart or had built in wheels which would allow one person to at least move it when required. That said, from a pure quality point of view, Ninja tend to get things spot on. I have several products under the brand and never had an issue.

I was surprised at the size and weight of this when it arrived. I think I had convinced myself it wasn't going to be a big as the measurements or that it would fit where we usual put our cool box when we travel. We received the 47 litre model and this is really big, it takes up about half of the boot of our estate car. Its heavy when empty so I do wonder about how useable it will be when it is full of ice and drinks.That said it does perform very well indeed. Our old freezer stopped working this week so this stepped in and kept the contents fully frozen for around two full days while we sorted things out. I can see it would have worked longer too. It feels very well made and robust and as if it will last years. I can see if you are car camping and have the space, and don't have to carry this far, then its fantastic. I think it may be a little large for our needs and with the space it takes up, I'm not sure, I think the smaller size would've been better for our needs but I can't fault the product for build quality and performance.

This arrived very well packaged in a huge box.As soon as you open this, you immediately see the quality of this cooler however it is also a very high price point.The lock for the main lid is very strong and well made, I have no doubts it will stay closed when bouncing around in the car. Inside it's not quite as big as I thought, but I presume that is because there is so much insulation to keep it cool.The bottom drawer to keep things cold is a genius idea and also good to keep foods separated. That also has a very positive lock, again no issues staying closed when bouncing around in the car.The lid doubles as a seat as it is very strong and sturdy, so perfect for a family day out or camping.It has 2 very strong and secure handles on the sides, but this is quite heavy without any contents. I would suggest once filled with ice, drinks and food this will be heavy to move.I have to comment on the price, this is very expensive but it's certainly the highest quality and best looking cooler I have ever seen. Do I think it's work £250, err not sure but I feel this is a little expensive for me.... but it does look awesome.
