Excellently executed, high quality folderโฆ
Got the skeleton version on Prime sale for half price (~$34). This is an excellent quality knife with great fit, finish, and functionality. The handle is clear and textured and adds a kind of 3D effect to the skull and bones image in the liners. Came razor sharp (never an issue with Kizer) and the blade was centered. The action is smooth amd reliable. Is it worth full price? Possibly, if you like Nitro-V steel, the novelty esthetics, and the spear point blade shape. But at the Prime price, itโs a killer deal and a no brainer.

Excellent EDC blade
Iโve had the drop bear for about 4 months now and it has been an excellent everyday carry knife. It has an incredibly smooth action thanks to the adjustable clutch lock. I keep mine in the stiffest setting and it holds well and has a very snappy motion. I mostly use it for breaking down boxes and cutting through various plastics and it has been a fantastic tool. The scales are contoured and rounded nicely and the shape is overall very ergonomic, I have not had any โhot spotsโ while using the knife. The jimping on the spine of the blade is nice, especially that it extends so far. Itโs not too grippy, but when pressure is applied it holds tight. Take note that this version of the drop bear is a bit different to the original and some of the other variations. It is slightly slimmer, as the liners are recessed into the scales. I enjoy this quite a lot as it is not as bulky in the pocket and has a more precise feel when using. The nitro-v steel has been great as well. I touch it up on a ceramic rod and strop, but that is all, it has held its edge well. I was surprised how easy it is to bring it back to razor sharp, much easier than d2.

Kizer got it RIGHT!
The Drop Bear is a fantastic knife! One of those models in which all the individual features work very well and then work together to form a superlative whole: the action, smoothness, lock, materials, aesthetics, build quality, and colors. The action is smooth, not clunky, stiff, or gritty. Kizer has the manufacturing tolerances just โsoโ, and it makes for a reliable and solid working mechanism. Itโs easy to flick open with the thumb stud, yet at the same time, easy to slide the lock bar and freely swing it open or closed like a button lock. Kizer has gotten the dรฉtentes just right to achieve no-bounce closure and opening, with minimal effort to overcome the dรฉtente resistance. I added a drop of KPL (Knife Pivot Lube) oil to the pivot works where the raw metal-on-metal of the crossbar and blade cam got the tiniest bit gritty, but that friction is almost unavoidable without a jewelerโs polishing of the internal parts (which would start to skyrocket the price.) Nitro V is a good blade steel choice since it is a better steel without getting up into the escalating prices of the impossible-to-sharpen premium steels. It's cool to get a glimpse of the inner workings with the translucent PEI Ultem (pee-colored!) scales. The yellow color looks great with the black metal parts, with a tiny accent of blue color on the thumbstuds and the glint of silver along the sharpened blade edge. A thing I donโt know is the impact resistance of the Ultem plastic scales; if I drop this knife on a cement floor, might something crack, or will it be unscathed? Donโt know. You may have subjective preferences about the blade shape, knife size, and colors, but an objective look at the workmanship, materials, and workability of the Drop Bear will not disappoint.

Great, light, small-ish EDC Knife
Kizer makes great pocketknives, I own many. I passed on the Drop Bear many times; I don't care for small knifes. I'd say it's more on the medium side. It's light, flawless function, great ergos, cool design, solid. Nitro-V is easy to maintain. I really don't get all the hype surrounding the Drop Bear? Maybe it's all the Youtuber exposure it's gotten? It's a great EDC pocketknife, but there are a lot of other equally great choices for around the same price point. Youtubers talk about the smooth cross bar action. Feels the same to me as many other cross bar knives I own, they are good, so is the Drop Bear. It does come in a wide variety of materials and that is one very cool thing. Overall, it's a great knife if you like medium size and lightweight.

Nice blade with a translucent handle.
I really was surprised with Kizerโs overall quality of their knifes. The blades are smooth and sharp. The size of this knife makes it a great for EDC (every day carry). I was not too fond of the look of the handle. It looks super keen on the internet, but it is a translucent handle with the skulls underneath. Not my favorite look but it is still a solid knife.

Another great Kizer
So I flipped the steel liners on mine to hide the cowboy print and then rite dyed the clear acrylic scales. I like it much better. The action is fantastic and it's fit and finish is great. These themed ones can be had for much cheaper sometimes which worked out in my favor for this one. Btw mine came with silver thumbstud and clutch lock mounted but gold was also included in the box with extra hardware! Great value!

Great little knife
Great design. Near perfect for an EDC. Great fit and finish. Blade well ground, very sharp and perfectly centered. Fantastic smooth action and solid lockup with no play whatsoever. A bit small, but, more effective useful blade length than the new drop bear 2. I would love a large version.
