3D printed distribution tool
This distribution tool is 3D printed and looks and feels like it. The purchase includes spare acupuncture needles, a pair of hex wrenches and spare set screws for replacement. The tool itself is comprised of three parts: the stand/cover, dosing funnel, and the main distribution mechanism itself. The gears inside rotate perfectly well without seemingly any lubrication and I like the grinding sounds that emanate from the device so thumbs up there.Moving forward, the user can adjust the depth of the needles by simply loosening or tightening the screw connection of the distribution tool from the dosing funnel. I appreciate that the user can dynamically change the depth levels as they're going from a single to a double basket and vice versa. That said, while I've found this procedure to be incredibly easy, it's rather flimsy as the device lacks a locking mechanism to secure the chosen depth in place. This often led to accidental depth adjustment when all I wanted to do was the rotate the tool to distribute the contents of my coffee basket. The manual states the user to rotate 8 times to get complete coverage. Easier said that done due to the lack of a locking mechanism as mentioned above. At the end of the day, it does the job but not spectacularly better nor time-saving when compared against its much cheaper counterparts. Plus, the product in general feels quite cheap and hollow due to its 3D printed construction. Not sure what the reader's stance is on microplastics either. To close, I gave it 4 out of 5 stars for the novelty and joy I got out of using it. But I unfortunately wouldn't go so far as to recommend it to others. Listen, I appreciate to a great extent that the manufacturer was thoughtful in providing spare parts that will extend the lifespan of the product for years, potentially decades to come. That said, it's quite awkward to use due to the aforementioned flaw. It neither makes the distribution task easier or quicker. So I guess it's more of a vanity product. But it's not very impressive in build so where does that exactly leave it?

3D printed, lightweight, easy to adjust height, spare parts, recommended.
This tool works very well with my Breville Barista Express 54mm portafilter and I recommend it.I know others have mentioned a lot of the same points that I’m about to make, so pardon my redundancy. This WDT tool is lighter than most of the other espresso tools I have in my arsenal because it is 3D printed. I have actually seen the files shared in groups that people with 3D printers use for making these types of tools. I don’t have a printer, so here we are. While other tools are made from wood and solid metal, this is plastic. That being said, it does work wonderfully for breaking up and distributing the grounds. I did have to adjust the height of the needles when it arrived. That was simple enough to do. They provide help in the listing video if you don’t know how. There are 3 parts to the tool; The stand, the funnel and the WDT tool. There are magnets on the funnel, which I usually prefer not to have. Sometimes they’re more trouble than they’re worth. These do not cause any problems for me, though. The gear mechanism at the top is satisfying to use for the kid in me. It turns smoothly enough and causes the movement for the needles to do their jobs. There are spare needles and screws in the box, as well as 2 screwdrivers for the screws. Also in the box were the instructions. They’re very helpful and include images and a step by step tutorial on changing the needles. All in all I believe this tool is worth getting. Just don’t expect it to feel solid and heavy or look pretty like most espresso tools. It gets the job done, though, which is what’s most important.

3-D printed. Didn't fit my portafilter.
Coffee tools are almost always priced at a premium since it's considered a "luxury" hobby. And since my tools all live on my coffee bench, out in the open, I'd prefer something that's not a 3D-printed eyesore. And this very much is.To be fair, for a 3D-printed tool, this is probably about as refined as you can make it. But I think it should be required for sellers to disclose when an item was 3D-printed. And the seller does try very hard to hide that fact in the photos and marketing materials. As for functionality...Unfortunately, this WDT tool didn't fit my portafilter (see photo). I was able to modify it to make it work. It was a pain, but oddly enough, it having been 3D-printed actually made the modification easier. When I did get it fitted onto my portafilter, it worked exactly as expected. The magnets held onto the basket and kept the grounds from spilling out. I've used some more high end rotary WDT tools and I'd say this did just as good a job.So, all that having been said...At the time I'm writing this review, this tool sells for $32. And I think that's pretty fair (if you don't care about aesthetics or the possible need for modifications). It ain't pretty, but it definitely gets the job done.Removed a stars based on my own individual experience. One because of the undisclosed 3D-printing and another for it not fitting my portafilter. Depending on your set up, ymmv.
