Simple and effective solution for scratchy little ones. The unique double layer mitts with a smooth silk outer layer ensure that damage caused by scratching and rubbing is minimized. The cardigan design ensures that ScratchSleeves are easy to put on and stay firmly in place without the need for fiddly fastening, which can also be used for scratching. Loose fitting sleeves ensure that babies stay cool and sensitive skin on hands and arms is not irritated. Originally designed for babies and kids with eczema, ScratchSleeves are also effective for all sorts of scratching and irritation including chicken pox, cradle cap, ear pulling, overly enthusiastic thumb sucking, nail-biting and even hair pulling. “ScratchSleeves are brilliant! We can now relax knowing our 5 month old daughter isn't scratching her eczema until she bleeds when she's asleep or in the car. What a difference your product has made to our lives. Thank you!” – Lindsay

An actual useful product
My son has really bad eczema and scratches himself until he bleeds. I was really annoyed that I had to buy a $20 cardigan with attached mitts to prevent the scratching but honestly it is the best money I’ve ever spent on such a (at first glance) ridiculous product. I only really put this on him at night, and if he’s having a really bad break out will keep it on during the day. I do put this on and then put his one piece zip pajama over it. I see some pictures where parents are just throwing the cardigan on the child and then saying the child is able to take off. Of course they’re taking it off, it looks kinda annoying to wear. So a few tips. Buy more then one, it really is worth the money but kids are kids and it will get gross quick. Put it on first and then put a T-shirt/long sleeve shirt/onesie/whatever over it so that the child cannot easily remove it. We co-sleep sometimes and before buying this I would be up all night stopping him from scratching, now I’m up just making sure he doesn’t fall of the bed. But he’s sleeping through the night so I’m happy.

6-9 month size doesn't stay on (9-12 month does)
Updated review:I emailed the company and was happy with the very thorough explanation from the company regarding this very deliberate design of the smaller sizes. They provided suggestions to help the sleeves stay on such as putting them on under regular clothes/PJ's or a sleep sack. The sleep sack keeps the sleeves on my son but I have to keep his air conditioner on overnight to prevent overheating in the sleep sack (summer in NYC). They also pointed me towards their other products such as sleepwear made with the sleeves and put a PJ top in the mail for me to try - looking forward to it!Initial review:I bought a 2nd ScratchSleeves in Blue 6-9 Months because the Cream 9-12 months I initially bought was a little big (as expected) for my 6.5 month son (see my other review). However, the pattern of the Blue 6-9 Month size is completely different than the 9-12 month size such that it does not stay on (see photos). The part across the back slips down off his shoulders and the sleeve length is too short on the front side, exposing his upper arm all the way to the elbow. This makes it very easy for an elbow and then the entire arm to escape, especially since the distance between the sleeves on the blue 6-9 mo. size is as wide as on the cream 9-12 mo. size. I've found him with his arms out and the ScratchSleeves wrapped almost around his neck because he rolls so much! On the blue 6-9 mo. size, the sleeves are attached only to a piece of fabric across the back, whereas the sleeves on the cream 9-12 mo. size are attached to fabric in the back, at the shoulders, and in the front like a cardigan. Also, the tag is on the inside of the garment (a no-no for itchy babies).

Genius
My 1-year-old daughter's eczema was causing her to wake up in the middle of the night screaming and scratching her skin raw (the steroid creams work, but the itching comes back worse when she goes off them...). I had the idea for these to break that notorious scratch-itch cycle, and went looking to see if you can buy such a thing online. Turns out you can! And the killer feature here is the silk mitts. I assumed we would have to wrestle her to get her into them but after some gentle coaxing she actually really enjoys them and accepts them readily. The other thing we did was put a wet T-shirt on her during her bath (for soak-and-seal, you need to soak, but she's a toddler, so that's not going to happen...). Between those two things we seem to be keeping the eczema under control without the steroid creams.Edit: We have had to go back to using one of the steroid creams but she is sleeping well and the mitts are holding up well.

Great product BUT NOT 100% cotton
Was very excited to try this item for our son with severe eczema. We needed a product that was 100% cotton as other synthetic fabrics cause our son to break out in hives. When we received the item the body is 100% cotton and mitts contain silk, but the binding around the wrists and neck is 100% polyester. We returned for a full return. Wish the description would have shared this information as well and not just said 100% cotton.

Don't waste your money
We normally purchase scratchmenot sleeves (which tear within a month for $24.95) but they ran out of my baby's size on Amazon and their website so I found these. So normally I wash the sleeves before letting my baby wear them but these I didn't because after I had already purchased I read they tear after first wash. I bought two pair, put one on when they got here. They were off the shoulder and I kept putting them back on. Baby can easily take them off and not enough silk. My baby can scratch himself with them on or off. Within 4 hours there was a hole in sleeve, following day the thread is coming loose. Will never purchase again. Sticking to scratch me not, they atleast fit properly, don't feel cheap ($5 more for other brand), and most importantly last at least a month with washing.

We really do love these, because they have saved our sanity as far as stopping my son from having blood all over his sheets when he wakes up in the morning, due to scratching and eczema. On that front, they are miracle workers. The thing that bothers me, is the silk hands. Only a few months after buying them, they are in tatters. And we wash correctly, hang dry, & rotate with several other pairs. They look awful now and we can no longer wear in public.
