Osprey Sturdiness with a few caveats
Ok I was going to include pictures but the other reviewers put in quite a few pictures that there’s really nothing to visibly add.Let me start off saying that I am an absolute Osprey fanatic. I own their daylite sling bag, two large hiking bags, one medium hiking bag, and 2-3 Osprey trail running packs. My kids EACH have three of their hiking bags: a bike pack, a day pack and an overnight hiking pack… and my husband has Osprey packs. I LOVE Osprey. So when I saw this on vine I had to jump at the opportunity to really sink my teeth into something not hiking related and see how they line up in the luggage department.I am not totally disappointed though I can see how they can do better. First of all, this is not your hiking pack- there are no crazy extra hidden compartments and nifty bells and whistles. This is a duffle bag and by the name itself as a duffle bag it is one very large compartment with two small side compartments. At first I was disappointed however the more I thought and thought about this, when I pack for a trip I don’t really want a ton of compartments. What I do like is to have multiple pack bags (Osprey makes these too!) and pack my different items into these pack cubes which makes it easy to identify what things are and where they are without a ton of loose gear everywhere in a duffle. So this makes complete sense and is quite convenient. The zippers are sturdy and you are definitely getting the well-known Osprey quality in the zippers, materials, and “substance” of the bag.I am very glad I went with the 85L bag instead of the larger one (and this was verified by the complaints of how huge the bigger bag was in the reviews). The 85 is large enough for pretty much anyone’s needs AND also includes back pack straps that fold into a compartment if you don’t need it. This is SUPER handy. I have done multiple day stage running races where you have to haul your gear around and this would make it incredibly easier than trying to wheel it across anything other than pavement/smooth surfaces or carrying it by two duffle straps no matter how long they are to sling over your shoulder- that gets HEAVY. So having the backpack straps is amazing and well thought out.I did find the bar that is on the opposite side of the wheels to help it “stand” is pretty useless if you have a light load. It just slumps over and you can’t tuck the bar out of the way. I can see that getting bent in the long run.The color makes me gag-laugh a little as it is very reminiscent of Punky Brewster days (yes I’m showing my age) . I would have much rather had a solid color like bright red, teal, or any of their other bright colors from their packs.Overall a great piece of luggage.

ginormous bag great for longer trips
I have owned many Osprey bags, and I've been pretty happy with most of them. I'd say I am 95% happy with this bag. Overall it is a solid duffel bag--it is very roomy and holds a ton of stuff, is made from durable materials (including the wheels!), and the handle is easy to extend and collapse.Size--this bag is big and fits a lot of stuff. It would hold enough clothes for a 2-3 week trip. There are a couple pockets on the side, but there is only one main pocket on the inside. I realize it is a duffel bag, and duffel bags by definition have one main pocket, but it would have been nice to have the main compartment split into two. I also would have liked more pockets on the outside. In my pictures I putMaterial/durability--the fabric on this duffel bag is durable, the zippers are smooth and work well, and it just feels solid overall. I also like that the wheels are larger and rugged. They do not swivel, so you can only pull this bag behind you, but that is not a big deal to me. I also really love the color! There is an ID pocket on the top. There is an extendable handle that is easy to pull out or collapse, and on the opposite side there is another (non-extendable) handle. The other nice thing about this bag is that it is relatively lightweight. I own another duffel-style bag that is smaller than this one but it is so much heavier! I really like that this one is lighter.Overall, I am happy with this bag and think it will last a long time. I feel like it is perhaps a tad overpriced, given that there are only a few pockets on the exterior and none on the interior. However, it is definitely a solid and durable bag that is perfect for longer trips.

Way too big for a carry on
This is a great quality bag. I was taken back by the fact that it wasn't like a typical bag and didn't have the same sturdiness when packing. It's lightweight and a great travel bag but it's way too big to be a carry on. I compared it to my current carry-on and it's longer and definitely would not pass normally guidelines for a flight. However, the size of it is still great and there's quite a bit of room. It also doesn't always stand up properly. You have to make sure to get the weight distribution right for it to stand on its own vs my other bag that doesn't have the same issue. Overall, I like it but probably won't use it as much as I thought I would.

A nice travel bag!
I ordered this bag as an alternative to my suitcases I have had for over two decades. I just got back from a week-long trip to the cabin where I loved out of it. Here are my thoughts:It's a beautiful turquoise color and looks really classy! It rolls very smoothly. It also fit lots of clothes. I would have liked to have a few more pockets for such a big bag. The flap that opens has a bag where I could put socks and underwear. There were also a few more small pockets outside. One of them holds backpack straps, which some appear to be removable. They did make it possible to carry it without the wheels, strangely with the soft side to your back. I didn't love that it zipped down to the bottom, making it necessary to lie out down rather than just reaching in while it is standing up. I do think that calling the 85L bag a carry-on was a misnomer; it is definitely too big for that. However, it is great for road trips and could be checked too.

BIG
I got this for a carry on but I think it’s too big. However, it’s a good quality wheeled duffel style suitcase. Holds a ton of stuff. I wish there were more internal divisions, but I have packing cubes so I guess that’s a solution. Doubles as a backpack, which is great. Smooth rolling!
