Oh yes it does. Despite the instructions 'not to open' the case, the transmitter does nothing until you do. What do you find inside is - a battery - one of those flat lithium jobs. Until you pull the red tag (my pictured, badly), nothing works. Apart from that - perfect, stylish and weatherproof. We shall see how long it continues to work on the not-battery!
