Enjoyable
I’m not a comic fan, but I am a Gears fan so I decided to get this. I found it interesting to see the war from the locust perspective and there were a few one-liners that made me laugh out loud. The code for Gears of War 4 content was also much appreciated.

Is it enough?
SPOILERSThis book explained so much in the story and gives us a longer look on raams story. Every chapter had a great begining and end non stop action however, there isnt enough we wanna know how raam got that scar and how he could control the crill. Its just i think its not finished yet.Otherwise amazing book art was lovely.

Great prequel Gears fans would love.
Gears of War: The Rise of Raam collects Gears of War: The Rise of Raam #1-4 (2018) written by Kurtis J. Wiebe and art by Max Dunbar. I should say I borrowed this copy from my local library and is why there is a plastic cover on the outside of the comic. While I'm a longtime fan of gears I'm not too experienced in terms of the comics, I have read more than half of Joshua Ortega's 2008-2012 run and rather liked it so let's move onto this one.As the title gives away his is a prequel to the games and focuses on Raam and his rise to power which leads to Emergence Day. I really like that a prequel like this is made after several of the games have been released because it's able to draw elements of those games and incorporate it into the story. Speaking of story I'll give a brief overview, the locust are fighting an endless war against the lambent and are facing extinction, Raam has seen the surface and believes the locust should let the lambent have their home while the locust attack those unaware in Sera and claim the surface as their own. Pretty straightforward and a decent read, there is gore present but not as much as Ortega's run. It was very interesting seeing Raam as a character since in the games we don't get really anything to go on other than he's big and brutal.Overall this was a cool quick read and gives anyone who was curious about the locust before E-Day some answers. I would recommend this to any fan of the series or anyone who is curious about the locust before E-Day.Hopefully you found this review helpful and happy reading.
