This was a bday gift for our 6 yr old grandson-he loves it! He was able to put it together w/o any help & he plays with it every day. He told me it was his favorite bday gift-I got TWO hugs instead of just one-haha!

I bought this kit for my 6 y/o nephew who is obsessed with robots ever since I introduced him to fighting robots through NHRL livestreams. I have no experience with robots or really any model building, and it was a great first kit for us. The instructions are clear and very easy to follow. My nephew enjoyed using the snips to cut the pieces out of the grids; with supervision it’s a very easy task for a kid to do. Note that individual parts are not labeled with their numbers; they are numbered on the grid only. I was concerned we would have trouble identifying the 200+ parts once separated from the grids, but we kept the parts from each grid in ziplock baggies and wrote the grid letter on the bag. The images in the instruction manual are so clear that we had no trouble at all identifying the parts. Pieces are modeled well and snap together securely. Be sure to clean up any snags from the grids with the snips or emery board, especially on all gear pieces. Even the tiniest bit of extra material can make the gears inoperable. The pieces also feel sturdy enough to disassemble and use again for multiple models. A few pieces may need a slim piece of metal to pry them apart—definitely a job for older kids or adults. My only complaint is the contacts from the wires to the battery. They are very loosely fit so it loses power a little too easily. An on/off switch would be a more durable solution, but for the price this is a really minor issue. My nephew was able to slide the contacts into the slots with a little practice; they just move/lose contact with the battery a little too easy. It took us about 1hr to snip all the bits out of the grids, another 30 min to clean up the snags, and 45 min-1hr to assemble Robot 1.0. We can’t wait to try more of them over the summer!
