Astro is a good product for a good price
Love my Astro QUeo A912. I purchased this for my Mom's birthday. My mom knows nothing...I mean nothing about computer (or tablet, etc). So before sending it to her I programmed as much as I could to make it easy for her to use. She is progressing slowly (this is more to do with her understanding of computers). However, even before I sent the Astro Queo A912 to my mom - I ordered one for myself so that I would have the exact model Android as I give her instructions over the phone. I think the 9" size is perfect - less intimidating than a larger tablet (or even a chrome small computer). The touch works well (one does not have to touch - or retouch the screen to get it to move). The colors of the screen are great (this was not a big issue for me as I read many people mention about their tablets). The system set was easy as pie (the Android picked up my internet signal and I didn't have to do any "programming" of even adding the network. In fact, I purchased the additional Astro Queo A912 9" tablet to help instruct my mom - but to tell the truth - when I was working on the tablet to program for my mom - I realized the price was so good and the operation was so easy and the size so convenient - I wanted for myself (as well as to help my mom). This is a good product for a good price. peace

color and sound are great, it is easy to use.
I am new to tablets, in fact, I have only had this tablet one day, so my only con (I will update if this changes) and the reason I have given this a 4 star rating, is that the sides are not sensitive enough to click on search in Google Play, for example. When I am trying to type the letter "P" with the tablet on its side, I cannot. I have to tip the tablet back up (so the buttons are all on the top) tap the letter, or backspace and type. Even when using a separate keyboard, this is an issue. That is my only Con at this point. Pros: color and sound are great, it is easy to use (except for the con) and lightweight. It is the perfect size for holding in my lap and slipping into my purse to carry with me.UPDATE: The problem with the touch screen was fixed very quickly and easily. The Amazon people are awesome. The main complaint I have at this point is that I have yet to figure out a way to use the 32g sd card I got to go with it. The tablet acknowledges that the card is there, but that is all. I cannot move any apps to it or access anything I have on it. That mystifies me. Tip: Keep it updated! My tablet will just stop working unless I keep the updates up tp date. It seems to be very particular about that. I still love it for Netflix and Facebook but would love to be able to utilize that sc card...

Google Certified or certifiable?
(based on unit purchased on "a certain auction site" as the used/refurb unit purchased from Astro Queo was FBA (Fulfilled By Amazon) and turned out to be an *uninspected* Amazon return rather than one supplied by Astro Queo - at least I presume A.Q. wouldn't knowingly sell *broken screen* units)... Perfectly adequate as a 'first tablet' for kids but much to slow for power-users, claims Google Certified but don't expect common apps like PayPal Mobile to work as they come up as "not compatible" when you attempt to install and even Google apps like Chrome are problematic as the supplied (outdated) version cannot be updated ( Chrome nags that an update is available, but the update fails after downloading as "app is already present") and other social apps like Facebook are intermittently updateable - with updates sometimes disappearing during the download (starts to download, fails with a 'URL not found' or 'file not found' error half way through, then no longer has an update through the app store (note: some " incompatible" or unobtainable apps ARE available through unapproved (by Google, that is) "third-party" sources like the Amazon appstore)... If you succeed in getting one of the $39.99 used or refurb units that passed inspection rather than an untested Amazon return (others have reported buying " new" items only to receive broken or incomplete opened-box rejects, sometimes with return-authorization forms or notes describing defects from previous buyers still in the box...), it's likely worth the price...

Amazing for Twice the Price
My company purchased 19 of the Astro Queo A912 9" Dual Core Android tablets for a community survey project. We customized each tablet to have just a single link on the home page so survey takers would have an easier time. The tablets were easily customized and easily adopted by the agencies overseeing the survey. The fact they were Android tablets (Google Approved!) was a bonus, because most people are already familiar with working with them. The tablets were distributed to the agencies on Monday, 10/20, and they began using them right away. As of today, 34 surveys have been taken on them, and we've had no issues reported. We'll have them deployed in the field for three weeks. These are nifty little tablets, and for the price, a steal. Others have said the screen was a little dim, and I can see that, but in our case, that was a bonus, because it makes the screen difficult to view from the side. So confidentiality of survey takers is protected from people in the immediate vicinity. I imagine that would also be a bonus for using the tablet for everyday things, like keeping people from snooping while you're on an airplane or other public transport. Or next to you in bed. :)i just couldn't believe we found an actual Android tablet that was priced right and actually delivered on exactly what we needed. If anything changes through the end of the project, I'll update, but I'm optimistic this is going to be a success!
