12 Pack Basswood Plywood, 12 x 12 x 1/8 Inch, Unfinished Balsa Wood for Laser Cutting and Engraving, Wood Burning and DIY Projects

I’ve bought from several vendors with significantly different qualities. Robotime’s 12x20” Walnut was amazingly good in quality and appearance. Neither 1/8” but both were consistently 2.95-3.05mm, which is better than most vendors claiming 1/8”. I needed a quick resupply so I bought these shorter boards, but they disappointed.The color was very grayish and didn’t improve with clear coat like most panels. The grain pattern was low contrast and almost had a “static” look. Not much uniqueness in grain patterns either. A few sheets had some veneer gaps, but I’ve had worse batches. It wasn’t too bad with warping though and cut/engraved decently. I’ve gotten much cheaper 1/8” walnut sheets that’ve had a cleaner appearance and better color.

I’m looking forward to using these boards for my scroll sawing. Some will be used as backer boards and others will be used for cutting out letters and designs that will be used on top of the backer boards. I have looked these over well on both sides. I have not found any major issues at all.

Too many large glue pockets causing scorching and incomplete cuts. Wasted more than I used because of this.

The price of these basswood sheets is similar to the same size birch sheets sold by other vendors on Amazon. You can get Baltic birch in 5’x5’ sheets for around $20 which is much cheaper but if you don’t have a source near you this is a very good alternative. The sheets are sanded very smooth and there were NO seams or knots on any of the sheets. The sheets were packed in heat shrink plastic and arrived with no damage. There was no warpage on any of the sheets and only 1 small flaw in 1 sheet (see included photo). These sheets are, by far, the best Baltic birch plywood sheets I have purchased. All of the other plywood sheets I have purchased have had many seams, some small knots, some warping, and usually 1 or more small flaws (chips, dents, gouges, etc.). They measure 11 7/8” by 11 7/8” which is very typical and well within the seller’s stated accuracy of +/- ½” on both dimensions. The average thickness measured in multiple locations on one sheet was 2.9mm. These are the best quality I have seen and are competitively priced. I highly recommend these plywood sheets.
