This adapter ONLY works for 2.5” drives.
I clearly didn’t read the requirements, so don’t make my mistake. I have a lot of 3.5” drives I was hoping to use this with, and had zero success connecting to them. I was about to chuck this in the trash and write a scathing review when I luckily connected a 2.5” drive salvaged from a laptop and it worked. Initial thought was that it was the capacity size of the drive, so I tried a smaller capacity 3.5” drive and again was thwarted. Finally I got online and read the information again to discover this adapter only works with 2.5” drives.Well, now that I know that, I guess I’ll need to be on the lookout for another one of these adapters that works with the 3.5” drives. This one does perform well, or in my limited test with the 2.5” drive, it worked well.

Work like magic with a Samsung 870 EVO SSD!
I nearly ran out of 2TB HDD hard drive space because I have numerous artwork files saved as PSD (Photoshop), each taking up a lot of space with about 1 or 2 GB. So, I finally got a 1TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD external drive, my mother gave to me without knowing what it used for.I was initially skeptical about this product, partly because I wasn't sure if the Samsung 870 EVO is USB 2.0 compatible. After receiving the item yesterday, I connected it to a Samsung SSD, then set up the SSD through ‘Create and format hard disk partitions’ in Disk Management to create another partition, and it appeared successfully! I'm glad it worked.I'm considering buying another one after getting an 8TB SSD for PC gaming in the near future.

I needed a SATA/USB C 3 to 2.5 SATA III drive and these met my requirements
Many of the SATAIII to USB C adapters have longer cords. This might be what you need. In my case, I wanted short cable just long enough to fold the drive under the Raspberry Pi case. These worked perfectly and I would buy again for similar needs.

Very Portable and Useful USB-SATA Adapter
At this point, I have many USB drive adapters. An old USB-IDE/Sata adapter, a USB-double-SATA adapter (most useful for D-to-D copies) and a handful of USB-SATA disk enclosures (3.5 and 2.5).So did I need this? ...nope. Am I happy to have it? …yep. For one primary reason…it’s so damn portable! (…thanks Seller and Vine).I’m serious about my appreciation of the portability. I can throw this adapter in my laptop bag for when I go to my folks (in another city) and end-up doing some sort of tech support...lately replacing spinners with SSDs to breathe new life into older computers. …or data recovery. And while home, this little adapter will continue to sit in a cubby nook on my desk while I reformat old spinners for eventual use in an enclosure for a backup drives for my family (as spinners retain data longer than SSD, and are therefore better for data backup…plus they’re “free” since I have so many laying around from replacement, and would still be cheaper than SSD otherwise). In fact, a day or so after receiving this, I noticed that I had separated a 2.5 spinner from the rest of the pack, and I couldn’t recall why I did that. So I plugged this adapter (which I previously just threw in my desk cubby) into the spinner, then connected it to my laptop…Windows sounded the “USB-connected” chime. And in seconds, I told myself…“Oh yeah, I don’t want to reformat that one just yet!”As far as speed, well I’d normally run a speed check on/through it, but I don’t have an extra SSD on hand currently. And I didn’t order this necessarily for “top speed”. Theoretically, this drive is listed at USB 3.0, which at 5 Gbps (625 MBps) is slower than SATA 3 (6Gbps/750MBps), so a 3.1 drive (at 10Mbps/1.25GBps) would exceed the SATA 3 capacity and be “better”….but those are theoretical numbers. And practically, 3.0 speeds (including the overhead reduction) are more than adequate for my use. I’ll grab a screenshot next time I have an SSD on-hand and update this review…but this drive responded fine for me, and another reviewer (Martha) has already speed tested this, so I’m less pressed to benchmark it…but again, I’ll update this review when I do.So, could have I used any of my USB-SATA adapters for my quick-check? Sure, but this one was quickly “on-hand” in my desk cubby…and therefore looks to be my new “go-to”.The USB A-C adapter is a nice inclusion as well.…and it’s seems well constructed and durable.Bottom Line:Default Windows drivers/compatibility (Linux also assumed, as I’ve never had a USB drive that didn’t also work in Linux)…super portability…economically priced, and they included a USB A-C adapter. This one gets the fiver.
