A Versatile Product That Can Be Included In A Myriad Of Dishes
The Tutto Calabria Baked Black Olives are a versatile product that can be included in a myriad of dishes. The 460g (16.22oz) bag is made up of petite sized olives with a tasty flavor. The olives are a deep black color and have a tender and meaty texture. They have a delicious flavor that are saltier than the olives that you find in a can but are not as heavily seasoned as those found in a deli department. It has a delightful brine-like flavor that allows the olive flavor to really shine. Interestingly, despite its inclusion of sweet peppers, I did not detect either a spicy heat or a pepper flavor. You will have to be careful when eating since its stone is still found inside the olive. These olives would make a delicious addition to a homemade charcuterie board, included with your favorite pizza toppings, mixed into a homemade bread dough, added to a chopped salad, and mixed into a pasta sauce. The possibilities are endless. There are only four ingredients used to make the olives and they are clean, recognizable, and pronounceable including baked black olives, olive oil, salt, and sweet peppers. There are about 18 servings per bag with each 10 piece serving containing 7g Total Fat,1g Total Carbohydrate, and 0g Protein. The bag that I received has a best by date of 20 months from the date that I received it. It is a Product of Italy. The only thing that I would want to change is the bag holding the olives by making it resealable. Unfortunately, the current bag is not, thus I needed to find a container to hold the olives. Other than that, I feel that it is a tasty snack and is an ingredient that can improve many dishes.

if you like olive this is for you
I personally enjoy olives to add on to my meals, and this brand tasted very fresh, slightly salty, and fresh. I put some on top of pizza to add an layer of flavor to it and it was very delicious.

Can't stop eating them.
We're big fans of all different kinds of olives. That said, the only olive I don't like is the canned black variety. So, when I saw these and noticed they are Black Olives, I was a little hesitant. Since we've never had Baked Oven Roasted Olives, with sweet peppers and olive oil, I decided to see what they're all about. I'm so glad I ordered. They are nothing like canned olives. The flavor is unique, with deep mediterranean goodness and mild sweet chili accent. Low spice level, and slightly dried, but basked in a touch of olive oil which helps keep them moist and tender. Quite a treat and if I can stop eating them myself, they'll go great on an olive platter, along with some of our other favorites. These will more than hold their own when tasted by any olive fan. Highly recommended.

Fried olives in an olive oil with a salty aftertaste when eaten right out of the jar.
The media could not be loaded. Review of: Baked black olives with Pits, Oven Roasted Black Olives, 460 g (16.22 oz), Olives al Forno, TuttoCalabria, Handmade in Calabria, Italy, Calabrian Black OlivesI love olives. Really really love olives, so much so that I sometimes ‘hint’ that olives would make for a nice Christmas present. So, these ‘baked’ black olives from TuttoCalabria sounded interesting to try. And, I must say, that after my initial taste test, I did think that these olives, though tasty, were a bit too much on the salty side and a bit too much of an olive oil ‘coating’ for my liking. So I did a little checking around and found that it was certainly acceptable (and even recommended) to rinse the baked olives in fresh water to reduce the brine/salt aspect of the product. And, that is what I did. I rinsed the olives 4 or 5 times in cold water and then resampled them. That did help. The end result turned out to be a taste of deep, rich, black olive (which I find has a distinct flavor as compared to green olives) with a firm to semi-firm texture that was easy to eat but also gave the olives a consistency that wasn’t mushy.I also found pretty early on in the tasting that these baked black olives do indeed have pits (as the label does indicate) which are large enough that each pit seems to make up for half the volume of the olive. But that is what I expected to find.I was also a little surprised (perhaps somewhat disappointed) that I didn’t really get any of the flavor of the sweet peppers that it’s supposed to contain. I think the taste of the salt and olive oil (some remains even after rinsing) overwhelmed the flavor of the peppers in the product.Overall, an okay product and good for those times when I want to sample just a plain, unadorned version of a black olive.

Too salty
It's way too salty, even if you wash it off. It's so salty to get rid of the bitterness which I could still taste even when it was washed off. The olives is mostly pits so don't expect too much from each olive. The bag isn't resealable so you'll need to transfer it to another container after if you don't finish it in one serving.

Mild and pleasant taste but mostly pits
I know this listing says there are pits so I was not surprised by them but I did not expect that they would be mostly pits. I am not sure why this is sold with the pits intact. The baking process seems to shrink the olive flesh and so you get about 30% olive and 70% pit. To use these in a salad, pasta, or pizza, you will need to remove the pits from each. The flavor is mild and light with a distinct brininess. The baking process concentrates the flavor and you get a slight firmer, wrinkled texture with a good taste. After removing the pits, they'd be a great flavor addition to pasta or salads, in my opinion.
