Really helpful!
I found this book pretty good. I have played guitar for about 5 years, but piano is my first instrument so I really just taught myself guitar. What I lost from this was a lot of the theory and some things that I would've needed to take lessons to know. Having these lessons is going to be really helpful and I believe could help me expand my guitar knowledge and take my playing to the next level.I really like this format instead of weekly lessons because I can do it on my own time and have it with me always on my phone. There's also videos which makes it seem like I am taking lessons face to face. I'm excited to keep going with the book and would recommend it to anyone!I think it would also be pretty good for beginners, because I skipped a lot that I knew already.

Highly Recommended
As a teaching artist, I look for innovative ways to instruct students while learning new skills on my own. A book such as this one provides a fast paced track to learn the key elements of the guitar. Scales and Modes are very important skills for any musician to obtain rather beginner or advanced and this book provides those tools needed. Not only does it provide the opportunity for these skills to be learned, but it provides the opportunity to use what you've learned immediately following the lesson. The phrase is true, "If you don't use it, you lose it." I have a busy schedule with teaching and playing gigs with very little free time, and with a book such as this, time is never an issue. You can learn at your own pace. Many musicians today don't know how to read music. Because a lot of these musicians are older, they often don't find the time or energy to learn to read. With this book, reading is not needed. Using simple guitar tab and finger numbers allows the guitar player to follow along using simple finger patterns paralleled with the unnumbered finger pattern. This allows the musician to learn not just numbers, but notes as well.I highly recommend this book for any beginner that's never picked up a guitar before or an advanced guitarist that wants to brush up on modes and scales.

Simple, yet thorough!
I am a self-taught guitarist and I took advantage of the promotion so I could get a glimpse at some actual technique! I like that each of the 100 lessons is one page. That makes it very easy to digest and go at my own pace. I've only had a chance to go through the first few lessons, but the bullet-pointed facts and lesson tips kept me inspired and interested. I also appreciated that the book skipped the overly simple introductory information. Although, I can see how someone who is just starting out could feel a little overwhelmed.I would have appreciated a little more color to make the pages pop, but the videos were extremely helpful and fun! The lesson videos allowed me to visualize what I had read on the page and the jam tracks made the monotonous act of practicing scales seem like a lot of fun! People of all ages can enjoy the lessons. I have already recommended this book to many of my musical friends and will definitely do it again!

Differentiation in Musical Learning!
As a frequent piano and guitar player, sometimes it seems like months pass and I never get the time to play my instruments. When I do get the chance to pick up and play, I sometimes find myself forgetting the basics and I have to go back and remind myself. This book will help immensely with that - and it also taught me some things I didn't know! The book was easy to download onto my tablet - but I also downloaded it onto my iphone so that I could watch the videos while reading the text and seeing the diagrams.Wow! The videos were so helpful! I found myself watching them multiple times, once through, then once while reading, and then once again. They are extremely helpful, and extremely well placed. Unlike some other books, where the video links are on a completely different page, the video links were right at the bottom of them page!I definitely think this book will come in handy to seasoned players and new players - especially for younger children just picking up their first instrument! This is better than lessons because it's one low price, and the person can go at the pace he or she wants - or go backwards or forwards at a speed that is appropriate.

Potentially Interesting
This book is written with the electronic guitar player in mind but, at first read through, seems to offer a lot for the acoustic guitarists as well. I like that it gets into modes and also describes the tab markings without ignoring the more conventional staff markings as well. The books says it is for beginners and up and I am a beginner guitarist although I do have a piano background.

Great for any level player!
Another impressive instructional book by Steeplechase. As a beginning guitar player, I only learned how to read tabs. Thanks to the wonderful instructions and videos in this book, I can play several scales, and know the notes that go along with them! I also appreciate that this book teaches theory, so I don’t feel like such a poser now that I have the knowledge to back up what I am playing. The instructional videos really make this book stand out from other guitar instruction books I have read. Typically, you may have a recording to follow along to, but the videos make it much easier to learn. Damon is a good instructor and it feels like he is right in my living room giving me a lesson. I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in learning the guitar, from beginners to everyday players, you will find something useful.

Amazing little book
If you are intend on learning scales and playing riffs then this is the book for you. I love the way it starts you off already learning how music can sound with vibratos and simple note correlations. This is the book that will instantly get you into playing music!

Super livre, parfait pour apprendre les gammes. Je pense qu'il suffit amplement à la tâche. Je n'achèterai pas de livre de la concurrence sur ce même thème.

Easy to follow
Not sure this is suitable for absolute beginners, but easy to follow for intermediate players

Incomplete and not very useful.
Modal scales presented over 5 strings rather than 6... As a well experienced technical guitarist I was hoping for a nice resource but am a bit disappointed. This unusual 5-string presentation with no real insight into the freedom/flexibility of the workings of scales would be very limiting if not confusing to beginners or intermediate players starting to expand their horizons.Personally I'd advise anyone - especially beginners, to look up scales which are demonstrated over all strings, I'm particularly fond of '3 note per string' arrangements too as it makes the modes far easier to learn. All this information is freely accessible on the internet.

Not for beginners
I am relatively new to playing the guitar, I can bash out a few 4 chord songs etc but I wanted to make progress, so I bought this e-book. It has lots of nice diagrams, but it does not explain what scales are, how they are used, and how to progress up and down them. This is in no way a book for beginners because it lacks any form of instruction or tuition, I do not know enough about scales to say if it would suit a more advanced player, but for me it is like a book on rocket science.
