A scribe ruler that doesn’t rule.
It’s a simple thing to do. Instead of make one on my own I decided to save time and buy this. After spending 30mins trying to figure it out I came to the conclusion that every single scribe this tool makes is 1/8” off. I tried to return but just can’t waste the time even doing that. It’s a nice piece of metal though so I decided to keep it and cut off all the angles and just make a new scribe from the scrap. Not worth the $10 even in scrap metal value.

Solid, well marked
This scribe is very easy to keep on my crafting table and takes up less space than standard rulers. The cuts make measuring multiple small (less than 1 1/2”) increments. The tips are nice and sharp for inscribing metal. Handy little tool.

Dull and inaccurate
I don't give 1 star lightly. I only expected two things from this tool: 1. Have accurate measurements, and 2. scribe those measurements effectively into material. This product fails spectacularly in both cases. The cutout lengths are all shy of the actual measurement. Whether you measure tip-to-tip or tip-to-gullet, the cutouts are all off by 1/16" or more, and this is especially true because you cannot butt the gullet up against the edge of a work piece sufficiently to mark the full length anyway. The end result is that you cannot get an accurate scribe line with this tool (see images). I'm not expecting accuracy into ten-thousandths of an inch or anything, but being off by 1/16" is not just "rough cut" slop; it's inexcusable inaccuracy. The problem is so bad that I thought it was my own user error, so I asked about it on a woodworking forum to see if I was doing something wrong. The consensus was no, it's just poorly made. To add insult to injury, the points are so dull that you can't actually scribe a visible line with this thing, even in soft woods like pine. This scribe literally cannot scribe. This tool is useless as a scribe and measuring device, but it might work as a shim for your lopsided furniture.
