Highly recommend
I bought this for my 8 year old and it fit well, with plenty of room for growth. This was a great idea instead of armbands as she was able to use it to help her stay afloat but it didn’t restrict her from moving her arms about. She hates the feel of armbands and this vest has made our family swim sessions a lot more enjoyable! I love the colour too. Nice and bright so she can easily be spotted.Would highly recommend

Buoyant but uncomfortable
This swim vest is adjustable for my granddaughter and is buoyant in the water, but the crotch strap is thin and she says it’s uncomfortable. There is a padded sleeve for the crotch strap but clearly not sufficiently padded.

Reassuring swim vest
it was very reassuring to take this swim vest on holiday for one of the younger members of our family. it's quite bulky to pack - but not as bulky as others which do the same job. It comes in one piece, as the straps mean it is is permanently attached at the shoulders. I was a bit reticent about this, because I was worried that it meant there would be less opportunity to readjust to fit. However even on a taller child it required the shoulder buckles to be putted tighter. it would fine in this respect and did not rise up at the upper end of the age bracket. it's worth saying that the upper weight limit for this is 45kg which is quite a lot for an eight year old.The waist strap arrives tucked into the Geel band - very hard to get it back in again though! However if you have a younger child you probably don't need to pull it out this far to begin with. The child was pleased to wear it and soon forgot it was on. As with any floatation device, it does mean diving etc is out of the question however they were certainly more confident in the water. Watch out for overconfidence though. We had a strong swimmer alongside a less confined one and this matched them in confidence if not in skill set!Probably don't wear it on the last day of your hols if you want it to to dry out before sometime, and it would probably benefit from the dunking to disinfect routine as any any wetsuit.A good vest, but not sold as a life vest per se. Great if you have the space in your suitcase.Five stars.

Great for Building Confidence in the Water
I got the Splash About Adjustable Swim Vest for my child as they were just starting to learn how to swim. I wanted something that would provide safety and buoyancy without restricting their movement too much, and this vest seemed like the perfect solution. The first thing I noticed when it arrived was how well-made it feels. The material is soft and comfortable, so I don't have to worry about it irritating their skin, even after hours in the pool. The adjustable straps are a great feature, allowing the vest to grow with my child, which is a huge plus considering how quickly kids grow at this age.Once we got to the pool, I was really pleased with how the vest performed. It provides just the right amount of buoyancy to keep my child afloat while still allowing them to paddle and kick freely. They felt confident and secure in the water, which made the whole learning process much less stressful for both of us. The bright colour is also a bonus, making it easy to keep an eye on them in a busy pool. However, there are a couple of downsides. Firstly, getting the vest on and off can be a bit of a struggle, especially when it’s wet. The snug fit that makes it secure in the water also means it can be a bit of a wrestling match to get it over their head and arms. It’s not impossible, but it does require some patience, especially with a squirmy child who’s eager to jump back into the pool.Another thing to note is that while the vest is adjustable, it can be a bit bulky for smaller children within the 4-8 year age range. My child is on the smaller side, and while the vest fits, it does look a bit oversized. It doesn’t seem to bother them too much, but it’s something to keep in mind if your child is petite.Overall, the Splash About Swim Vest is a fantastic tool for helping kids build confidence in the water. It’s durable, adjustable, and does its job well, though it’s a bit of a hassle to get on and off. Despite that, I’d definitely recommend it for any parent looking to give their child a bit more independence in the pool while still keeping them safe.
