About the Author Ian Lockwood was born in Skipton and educated at Marist College, Hull, and the University of York. Between 1993 and 2008, he was editor of the Craven Herald, the newspaper of Skipton and the Dales.

The most comprehensive history of the town
At 600 plus pages this is a fascinating history of the town. I liked the way the book is split into chunks so you can dip into it rather than tackling it as a whole. There are unknown treasures and the writer has a good attractive style. No-one with Skipton links should be without it
