A fun and interactive way for kids to learn about space in a quality package
Verdict: An interesting interactive game for kids. It provides an easy and exciting way for children to learn about various Space related topics including but not limited to The Solar System and its components, Human kinds Space exploration and Famous Personalities related to space. Totally worth the fairly reasonable price pointIt was just a few days before I got this game that I was wondering why we do not have high quality Indian products for kids. That question has been resoundingly answered by the Shifu Space Educational Game. The game comes in an impressive box which gives it a very premium feel. Inside the box which also works as a very nice storage case are Setup instructions and activation code on the Inner cover, 60 Space themed cards, a stand for the iPad/tablet which will be required and a carry bag if you want to save space. I personally prefer to keep them neatly organized int he box.Setup1. Install the Shifu App from the App/Play store2. On launch the app will ask you for registration info and the activation code inside the box. You will need an internet connection for this step3. once you enter the code the app will download information from the internet pertaining to the code you have entered. This step too requires an internet connection and takes a couple of minutes but that would depend on your connection speed.4. The app requires permissions for Camera to work.5. The app now launches and you are ready to rockPlay1. Once the app is launched you will see a small area specified on the screen within you must place each card for the game to recognize it. I found that this works best when the background is plain (the floor or a dining table) and not for example a printed bed sheet or carpet.2. Bring the card into the designated area and the game recognizes the card. Once done it will display a 3 Dimensional image of the object on the screen superimposed upon the background. Kids really love this part.3. You can actually tilt and rotate the card to some extent just for fun or to fit some of the larger displays properly on the screen.4. The game allows you to zoom using the standard 2 finger motions used for any picture5. You can tap the object to trigger an animation which varies depending on the card. For example for the Hubble Telescope it shows a shuttle launching from Earth and deploying the Hubble Telescope which then begins orbiting the planet.6. Some card like the one for the Lunar Eclipse have a slider which moves the moon through and arc and helps children visualize how the Earths shadow causes the eclipse.7. On the top right in a small moon shaped icon. Tapping this icon trigger a small voice snippet about the object and open a panel from the right side which contains text. The voice snippet does not cover the entire text panel which in some cases can be lengthy. Small children might not find this very useful.8. There is also a spelling game triggered from the bottom left of the screen but this is not very usefulPros1. Very well put together game which is has a very high quality feel to it.2. Installation and activation worked seamlessly3. Easy fun playtime for kids who find the concept very novel and exciting4. Helps kids visualize various phenomena related to space. Visual learning works best and this helps them understand things without relying on too many words5. Kids just love rotation and generally poking at the screen display to trigger the various animations.6. Helps kids learn things while playing with tablets which is a whole sight better than just watching things.7. Does not require the internet apart from the one time setup.8. You can safely let children handle this on their ownCons1. some of the animations can be a bit finicky. Also I would have preferred more or better animations.2. Zoom control on objects can be a bit jerky i.e. it will go from small to large with a very small movement3. The voice/text uses words which small children may not be able to grasp. The voice overs are also the weakest link in the experienceUpcoming: I will post a video review of the game very shortly.Delivery: Ordered 14th Dec Delivered 16th Dec โ Before time

A must have for kids...
The media could not be loaded. ย Bought this for my Son who is almost 3 years now...The recommended age is 5-10 years howeve do not let the age stop you buying it...this little piece is a masterpiece of thought.Delivery and packaging: if you are in Mumbai normally you will get in within the next day. Amazon delivery service is very good and it was delivered in perfect condition. No scratches..no issues with packaging so definitely 5 ๐.Unboxing and content: the box is sturdy enough. When you open the box, you will find 5 sections. The top section contains a white pouch and stand to keep your phone/tablet.Rest of the 4 sections will have the 60 cards with each section having 15 cards. The flash card is palm size...in my opinion they are perfectly sized, neither big not small. You will find it easy to handle the cards due to the size. The quality of the cards are pretty average although I would have expected a better finish on the cards irrespective of the quality. The cards of the flash cards seems to be come out a little...I would have preferred a better finished and coated/laminated cards to better ageing. The coating would have given it a premium look along with increasing the cards lifespan even for an average quality card. The stand seems to be specifically made for tablets. Using mobile on the stand is hassle as u can't keep the phone on potrait mode since the app only works in landscape and its bit difficult to maintain the landscape position for phones which are 7 inch or less. 2.5 ๐App: you have to download the app from playstore. Search for Play Shifu while in android play store. The app works on landscape only as mentioned earlier. You have to register your box to activate the content. It's a simple process so Kudos to the team for keeping it simpler. The app is very simple with simple features. Although I would have loved if the team could on potrait mode as well. The app does not have any thing to explore apart from using it for AR experience. Although I would say the AR EXPERIENCE is quite upto the mark with good quality graphics of the all the cards.3 ๐Learning: You have to place the card in the front of the back camera and it pops up with the AR image of the card. It has a Learn and Spell on bottom right corner. When you click on Learn, it dictates the information and also a info pannel gets displayed on the right side. Spell button creats a game where u have burst the balloons and it creates a spellings of the card that you are currently viewing. The learning experience is quite good and easy to understand language. I would say it's a must have for all ages. My kid already knows the names of the planets... Quite interactive and innovative way of learning. 5 ๐Cons: the only fault I could see is the quality of the cards. The threads started appearing from day one since it does not have any coating I highly doubt it will last long...we have to handle it with careI have put video and all images for review.Overall a highly recommended product for kids.Overall rating 4 ๐

this is not a game
It is incorrect to label this a game. There is no game. My nephew enjoyed this for a second but the novelty has worn off almost immediately. I wish the "game," the spelling balloons, had more to it, because he was intrigued but there was no learning in that.

Does not work
With regret the product would not work on my apple tablet or phone, with the latest updates installed. I contacted Shifu customer services and they did not assist to fix the problem. I seldom write reviews, but given our poor experience I cannot recommend this product. I hope that this review appears on this product listing. The item was bought as a present in advance of my daughters birthday and we are now out of time to return it to Amazon for a refund. What a waste of money, very disappointing.
