Good pastel pencils
Good pencils. Good color selection. Very nice and smooth on Stonehenge paper. I don't really recommend for velour. They are wider than a regular pencil (but so is conte) so be aware you may need to use a wider sharpener or use other sharpening tools. Will definitely help render better details. very happy with these.

A waste of money
A waste of money.I LOVED that they came in a 72 pack. That is the only upside and my reason for two stars.The downside? These are so incredibly hard that they do not blend in ANY way. I love to blend and layer over and over and over to create shadow and texture and highlights. As soon as I started using these, there was no blend. So it just looks like patches of different colours that don't create shadow or shade or even darkness or subtle lightness. The first time I used them I gave up, thinking I'd lost my skill with chalk pastel.Then I tried again. I used different colours. Did a different drawing. Nope. These do not blend or layer at all. Impossible for the types of art I like to do. I really don't recommend these if layering and shadow and highlighting are important in your works. Which, if you use chalk pastel, probably is.Buy a better brand. The extra money will be worth it. This is a waste. I cannot do anything with these.

This is a great brand for colored pencils, watercolor pencils, & pastels.
I like that the color names are printed on the pencils. Other brands don't do that & I'm left to guess.

Simply Amazing
I am a pastel artist and when I can upon these I thought it must be a mistake, the price was too good to be true. Ordered them as I love Derwent products. If you are a beginner or a seasoned artist, these pastel pencils are smooth, vibrant and have colors you will not see in other sets. I HIGHLY recommend them, the 72 set. You will not be disappointed. And disregard the lion packaging as it does come in original packaging and these are 100% legit!!

These arrived on time. The set was still in factory sealed wrapping.A little worried as one can’t tell about cracked leads from the outside and they came only in a flimsy envelope, but upon opening things seem good.Everything in its place and as describedI’ve used Derwent pastel pencils in the past and they’re fabulous. I expect these will be as well. So far the blending and ease of use (doing colour chart) is high quality and meets my expectations.
