Surprisingly good - Makes engine very silent, keeps it cool!
This oil is ages ahead of most other non-synthetic oils. It is also much better than stuff like Castrol Activ. I ordered this for a friend's CB Twister, even though this is a higher grade than recommended, he had been using a 20w40 mineral oil from HP.After a thorough checkup by our mechanic, added this gem of an oil, that looks like it is made out of liquid crystal. Light golden hue, and very pure looking oil.Immediately afterwards, tried for a test-ride - Considered my friend's 6 year old Twister to be in reasonable good condition. We didn't really notice too much noise or vibration - BUT after adding this oil - the engine became super super quiet!I keep repeating the comment many others have made - This oil makes you think that your bike is switched off, when you're at a standstill in signals etc. It is THAT good!It gives great performance and feels immensely overly smooth until 45 kph - and after revving beyond this, engine gives slight grunt when going past this number (the age of the engine is showing, and the damage accumulated - Hope Shell will cure it eventually)I'm very happy for the bang for the buck offered by this oil. It makes the engine seem superbly smooth, and great. I have to keep using it beyond 200-300 kms and update the review, but overall - very happy, and surprised as to how much the engine can be silenced, and nurtured by this oil.Edit : Done 500 kms. Grunting vanished. Engine too smooth. Very nice, and pickup is good, and everything is great. Loving this oil.

Believe it or not Shell Oil gives best engine performance. I am using shell engine oil over past 10 years. And my engine quality remains above average. I also ensure I use shell petrol whenever possible.

Best for commuter bikes upto 125cc bikes
I have been using Shell 10W-40 semi-synthetic engine oil in my Passion XPro. The experience is good. It is better than the mineral oil that Hero uses. I have also used Castrol Power 1 Ultimate fully synthetic engine oil of the same grade. The differences I noticed after using this oil are- 1. The bike felt more refined. The vibrations that creep in at 60kmph with mineral oil will not be felt prominently and it runs smoother even at 80kmph with very few vibrations. 2. Bike achieved a top speed of 90kmph without much effort which can not be imagined with mineral oil. 3. It runs at least 3000km unlike mineral oil whose maximum range is 2500km. 4. The sound of the exhaust is comparatively less loud even at high speed and smoother as compared to mineral oil.Why it is better than Castrol Power 1 Ultimate - 1. The viscosity of Castrol is more than enough for a 110cc commuter bike and hence the engine is not as free-revving as it is with semi-synthetic engine oil. Hence the clutch plates take a toll and they need to be replaced earlier than usual. 2. The overtakes feel cumbersome as the bike needs more time to gain speed. 3. It is more expensive than Shell's semi-synthetic engine oil.The only plus side of using Castrol was it eliminated nearly all the vibrations even at the top speed because of its high viscosity. As far as mileage is concerned, I didn't feel any considerable difference between a mineral, semi-synthetic, and fully synthetic engine oil.So in my opinion, if you have a commuter bike and you want a little bit more out of your bike's engine, then always go for semi-synthetic engine oil instead of a mineral or fully synthetic engine oil.Things to remember - 1. Your bike (especially its engine) must be in a good condition to feel the difference i.e, regularly serviced. 2. If you are making a switch to semi-synthetic from a mineral for the first time, then you need to give a bike at least the first 500km run time for the engine to adapt to the new engine oil. You will not be able to the difference immediately.
