Brooklands Cadillac Performance Portfolio 1948-1958 Review
Nice book, actually. Was a little bit disappointed at forst, having bought a number of other Brooklands portfolios, in that only about a third of the book consisted of period road tests and articles and there were a lot of relatively modern re-prints of articles from Classic American. However, if your looking for good information on fifties Cadillacs, which is surprisingly hard to find on the internet, this book has proved invaluable in supplying lots of otherwise obscure data. It's certainly helped me, albeit often reading between the lines, in identifying what I now consider to be the key models to buy form the point of view of efficiency, reliability, general quality, etc. One of the Classic American articles even turned out to feature a car that I'd previously worked on, long before I knew it, which was nice. If you like fifties Cadillacs, and you're interested in delving into the technical details, this is definitely a 'must-have' book. I would also recommend searching out a book called something like 'buyers guide to postwar Cadillacs', by an American authority whose name eludes me for the present. You really need that as a complement to this one to get the full picture - a quick internet search should easily identify it for you.
