Does not light up.
My kid was super excited to put the parrot together and it took a while, but does not light up. The bird looks nice but she was disappointed because she wanted that feature.

The children who attend my ESL class when childcare is unavailable love these
I keep some toys available for kids when our childcare provider at my school can't be there sometimes. Since it's evening time and their parents are in my class, we just put the kids over in a corner and make do. The older kids enjoy these toys and this one is especially beloved, as they say it looks like the bird from Rio.

Don’t stay together
My son spent a lot of time putting together this bird.. the concept is very cool but, it is too heavy to stay together.. he was really upset so we are going to glue it together but the blocks do not stick together very well.

builds well sits well
I tell what sold me on this; the feet. I have a bunch of bird kits and I've had enough of birds falling off cause of some friction grip design so I skip those. But this one I could tell did it right so that was my own little observation. For the rest of the design I thought the detailing did great on both realistic and mecha aspects. It builds core out and saves the easily detached work till last thankfully since the last bird kit I did went the opposite way I was happy not to repeat that.Pieces are standard size. The manual was done nicely. Its large, folds flat, the pieces aren't downscaled and the steps aren't overly compact. The one thing it is missing is any sort of previous step fading or greyscaling and so there are a couple steps you have to study close. When I was at the point of layering brick to create the wings on the realistic side it was this mass of yellow and orange that had me looking real close at the manual to see what I was doing. Similarly on the mech side locating some of the smaller pieces wasn't something I could do at a quick glance.
