Easy installation!
I have had this system for 2 years and it has worked perfectly. This is one of the few systems out there that does not require a monthly fee AND does push notifications via the Internet. I receive an instant alert through the smart phone application as soon as there is a trip. I have an independent video surveillance system that I can then check instantly to see what is going on at home if I am not there. Great system for a great price. I would highly recommend this to anyone who does not want to pay a monthly fee. Simply Safe is a popular product, but only has local alarm capability if you do not want to pay a monthly fee. Not much good if you are not at home when someone breaks in. That's where this system shines.

DO NOT BUY. Misleading advertising. Camera cannot be used as a continuous recording device without an expensive monthly plan.
DO NOT BUY THIS SYSTEM. Waste of time and money. Before purchasing, I did a lot of research and asked a lot of questions to make sure that this system would meet my needs especially with regard to add ons like cameras. The information I was given turned out to be a complete misrepresentation of the product. I was specifically told that I could do continuous recording with the cameras without purchasing a plan because that was included in the package I had purchased. In addition, I was advised to purchase a larger SD card so that I could store 5-7 days worth of recording since I was not going to be using their cloud storage. I am still not clear whether I was lied to or the sales person didn't know his products, but after a lot of time setting everything up (and money buying peripheral items like cables and the sd card), I discovered that in fact I couldn't do continuous recording because they had changed their plans offerings after I purchased the camera and weren't interested in standing by what they had sold me. I don't need or want event-triggered recording and was so appalled by their lack of integrity in their sales pitch, that I returned the camera.Other complaints about the system:Several of the door/window contacts died after a few months. The phone app is glitchy and not really fit for purpose.

Easy set up, but no security.
Not very satisfied with this system. I will say that I had everything hooked up and connected together in about 20 minutes, including an extra door sensor and motion sensor. As soon as I set off a sensor, I got a message on my phone in seconds. Simple set-up, even the app on the iPhone was quick and easy. The main problem is that the system goes offline at least ten times a day and that just isn't good for a security system. No help from the company's support page. No info on possible firmware updates to the equipment. Even their support form had an error when I tried to send in a request. Boxed it up and sent it back.

Good System, Bad Cameras
I just finished installing this- I'll update the review if there's anything to add.Pros:- Easy installation. I had no trouble, aside from the motion sensor needing a reboot. The provided instructions are good. The equipment quality seemed OK.- App is OK- Notifications seem to work. I'm notified of events very promptly via email & phone app.- There's a "Stay Mode" that will arm select sensors, rather than all of them. This is great. I wish it was on the key fob too.- I think the siren volume is loud enough for my needs. I do have issues with the siren, though, see below.- I've had no wireless signal strength issues so far.- I'm happy that there's an ethernet port on the main unit (and on the cameras as well), two USB ports and that wifi is used.-The siren has a battery backup.Cons:- The cameras are pretty terrible. I would not recommend the camera package to anyone. I got it just to see what it is like. The resolution is very bad and the night vision is extremely poor quality. I'd just get the non-camera package if ever purchasing this again. The cameras should be priced at around $30 each. (Also, just to mention- they're not pan/tilt/zoom. I knew that going in, though.) Really, they're very bad. I'm rating the entire camera package and it gets 3 stars. I'd give this 4 or 5 stars for the non-camera package.- The siren beeps a little, then a little more, then eventually makes a loud siren noise. That's the default. I don't know if there's a way to change that- but I'd prefer it just be loud quickly and not give intruders time to find it and disable it. I have it set to "Immediate", I don't see any additional way to adjust it.Other:-The SSID of the base station is broadcast. So anyone checking wifi signals will see "OPLINK...". I don't really care, but just mentioning it. I don't see a way to change it.I would recommend the non-camera package. It's easy to install and gives you a nice DIY alarm system that you can control from your cell phone. The camera package needs better cameras or a lower price to match the low resolution and low performance in low light.EDIT a couple days later- I'm raising the review by a star. I've been enjoying the system, it's reliable so far, and their chat support answered my questions (though their service ticket system seemed to be broken). I stand by my opinion of the cameras and recommendation of the non-camera version.

It's technically an alert system
Sometimes goes offline. It's not my ISP because everything else works. The alert does not tell you which sensor was set off. I have two door sensor and one motion sensor. My alarm went off one night and when I went to investigate, both doors are closed and locked. My motion sensor is in the basement so maybe a rodent or spider tripped the motion sensor. The siren is not loud at all and it seems to reset after a minute or so. Otherwise those issue, it's been working great as a alert system, it's not a security system.

Had it about a week and system working great. Was surprised how easy to setup.Note the phone app is now called Home8 when looking for it.Nice to have the 'stay home' option that lets you disabled the motion detection, but keeping the door alarms armed.Response time is good from trigger to alert. As other people mentioned, the alarm starts slow, the when at full, not terribly loud.
