the sound quality is quite good. Not the best I've ever heard
I just got this device, so who knows how long it's going to last. But as of right now, I am ecstatic. Most of the other reviews were right. When playing music, the sound quality is quite good. Not the best I've ever heard, but still good. The reason I made the purchase was for the sound cancellation, however. I've never used something like this before, and I think it's great for just how much it muffles everything, especially if one has a noisy air conditioner. While it's true that it doesn't reduce higher frequency noises quite as well, those can be muffled with some white noise. And it really does make you feel like you're underwater. A very distinctive sensation. I almost wish I could sleep in these.

Nice headphones if you are not looking for a great noise cancelling
I bought these headphones almost one year ago.(+) Comfortable. My ears are normal size and these headphones are super comfortable for me, but that is very personal and depends on your head size and ear size. I dont think either the ear part gets hot comparing with past headphones I had. At least it is not something that bothers me when I use these headphones.(+) Fits for small heads. My head is kinda small, so sometimes it is hard for me to find over-ear headphones small enough for my head. For example, I got the Skullcandy Crusher headphones and those are too big for me, they are pretty loose in my head not the case of the vQuiet ones.(+) Sound quality. I am not an expert and maybe I am not too picky, but I like how these headphones sound. I tend to destroy all my headphones so I have had a bunch of them. As I said, once a decent quality of sound is reached maybe I am not too picky, but I am happy with these ones in terms of sound.(+) You can use them even when battery for noise cancelling is not there. I think some headphones needs battery even to reproduce music without the noise cancelling function on. With these ones, I got the noise cancelling battery dead for long time (I super rarely use that functionality), and you can still use them as regular headphones.(+) Design is pretty cool.(-) The wire stopped working properly after 8 months and I had to replace it.(-) Noise cancelling. I am not an expert in active noise cancelling either. However, I tried a friend's Bose noise cancelling headphones and you can feel the difference (you can feel the difference also in the price). I would say these headphones reduce the background noise but that makes voices come clearer? Also you remove background noise but you get a extra white noise from the device... I am not sure, but I wouldnt buy these headphones for noise cancelling.Summary: If you are not looking for a great noise cancelling performance, these headphones are pretty nice. Sound ok, size ok for small heads (maybe not for a kid, but yes for a girl head which usually is smaller than a guy head) and pretty comfortable for small to regular ear size at least.

Very disappointing!
I purchased these headphones to replace a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort 15's that were stolen during a recent vacation. Not wanting to spend $300 for another pair of the Bose headphones I decided to give these a try. These are absolutely the worst headphones I have ever heard. The noise canceling function wasn't as good as the Bose but it wasn't the deal breaker. Even though there was an audible hiss when the NC was on it was their sound when I was listening to some familiar music that had me packing these up ASAP. They sounded very muddy with no highs at all. It was as if there was cardboard blocking the drivers. The bass didn't impress me at all from a company like Velodyne.I expected so much more and am very disappointed.

Feel great, good quality sound and noise cancelling. But there is no way to turn mic on or off and mic frequently doesn't work.
Recently purchased these headphones and in my very un-expert opinion they are great as far as sound quality and noise cancelling goes. However, I've had issues with the internal mic (which when it is working is great quality). The mic function on these headphones randomly works and there is no 'button' on the headphones or cord to turn the mic on or off, which is incredibly frustrating. Sometimes I plug these things into my PS4 controller and the mic is on and working. Other times, there is no mic output. It isn't a setting on my PS4 because I can unplug these and immediately plug in the crappy standard PS4 one ear headphone/mic and it works without adjusting anything...On the verge of returning these.

Pros:1. The sound quality isn't bad, especially for this price range.2. They are adjustable and foldable.Cons:1. The volume controller built into the external cable that comes with the phones never worked properly.2. The headphones failed after 6 months of regular but careful use. I opened them up hoping that I could salvage them with my trusty soldering iron. However, all the existing solder connections were terribly made (see the black spots around the solder joints in the pics). Internal cables were not cut, tinned or even insulated properly. As a result the cables were fraying and potentially shorting. Some were under physical tension due to an excessively short cable cut. One cable was crimped under one of the contact points between parts of the plastic casing.3. The adjustment and folding features worked well from the outside, but it became clear that they were badly designed when I opened the product up. Inside the bridge connecting the two sides, there is a cable running from one headphone to the other. Unfortunately, each adjustment and folding action bends this cable, which was---as you probably guess by now---a very cheap one.In conclusion, my opinion of this product is that it was designed to fail within less than a year of purchase. And with a lithium battery inside, a failure could come in the form of an explosion next to your ear. Buyer beware.PS: For full disclosure: I am not an electronics expert. But I am a hobbyist and I build circuitry for fun.
