Potential...then lag lag lag...
I had a review here previously from around a year ago. I figured I'd give this drone one more try as I wanted something more "sporty" (compared to my Mavic Mini). Given all the mods people talk about, flying the H501's without GPS, etc etc, I figured this would be a good drone to pick. And yes, I planned on getting an H901A at some point, I just liked the idea of having the app as well.Anyway, just as before, the X-Hubsan app refuses to work with my phone. I still have the same phone as before, still running generally the same version of Android (9 plus some security patches) but the app will simply not see the aircraft or bind with the controller/relay. As before, I grabbed an old phone (Android 7) and it paired up just fine. While I do plan on using an old phone as my primary drone screen, I still am disappointed a semi-current phone continues to have issues...So with the app sorted and everything bound and ready, I launched the drone. Initial impressions were good. The drone is very powerful and zips around nicely. The rate of ascent is quite astounding to be honest and control seemed quite solid...and then I remembered why I returned my first one. Up around 50 feet in the air, maybe 20 feet away from me, the drone suddenly began ignoring all my inputs. It began drifting around slightly, responding briefly to my motions before freezing again. It wasn't fighting winds or anything, the darn thing wouldn't even descend! About a minute later, it decides to respond to my commands and plummets to the ground, bouncing off my driveway then hovering at around 5 feet.I understand this is a cheaper drone. I understand I won't get near the distance I could with even my Mavic. But for something advertising 400m range but then loosing complete control at a mere 15-25m away from me is absolutely unacceptable.

Great mid range quad with lots of features.
First let me start by saying the documentation that comes with this quad is not great however there are many YouTube videos which explain anything which you are confused about. The quad is very well built and performs as it is supposed too. I have not done a range test yet but have had it out past 300 meters with no problems. The HT011A is a very nice transmitter coupled with the Hubsan app or on its own. The quad syncs up fast and not having to do the compass calibration is nice. The gps on the quad and the transmitter normally takes me just a couple minutes to get 11 satellites. Takes great video, easy to fly. Return to home, orbit, follow me, auto takeoff, headless, all work. You do need some space to use orbit and follow me. Very pleased with this purchase. This is based on about three hours of flight time.

Beginners like me, read this
The media could not be loaded. Hi all. Total noob here. Totally was confused about what to get but I knew I wanted something easy, stable and with a reasonably good camera. This is perhaps a bit premature review but wanted to help out other total noobs like me. First off: the manual, setup, syncing with wifi was totally intimidating and not initially easy to figure out. However, YouTube video guided me through. I left a great link which helped me below (if Amazon allows it). Once the difficult part is over, flying this is pretty easy. Solid drone; hovers steadily (amazing). Follow me works well. Lands and takes off automatically with the push of a button. Again, not sure if my review would change but I also attached a video of my first flight. So, here's my advice:1) Unbox first2) Two wires on the battery, black and white is for charging; the other wires connect to your drone (blue connectors) and the red on your remote3) Don't put on the propellers until you are ready to fly4) Charge both batteries first5) THEN, sit down at the table with your charged batteries and watch an instructional video on youtube. You can search out qc guy.

EXTREMELY laggy
Well, I got this on time from Amazon, and the item came free of any damage. Put it all together and followed the instructions to the letter as much as possible. There are NO instructions for the controller itself, which are very necessary for learning the operation of the radio and how to bind it to the quad and the display. Sitting in my living room (raining very badly outside), I got it running through many YouTube videos. Without the videos, it would have been near impossible to hook it all up. Once hooked up, the controls from the controller to the quad, are extremely laggy making it very difficult to handle the quad if I ever had the opportunity to take it outside. It is a very nice looking unit, very well built, and sturdy. Just too laggy to be considered easy to fly.Milton Maxson

Don't waste your money
Hubsan makes cheap unreliable "toys". I have had 5 or 6 and all are either unusable or I sent them back because of the poor quality. If you buy one or have one and keep it, be ready to lose your investment and don't expect any help from their pathetic support .Good luck
