Brilliant!
I tried to make something like this myself a few years back from a sheet of plywood and four inch nails. It sort of worked but the nails bent and the whole thing was not sturdy BUT this WONDERFUL bit of kit is BRILLIANT. Easy to assemble in10 minutes. I strapped them to some old deck shoes and the straps were quite long. Of course you can cut the end to shorten them and seal the end with a lighter to stop it fraying but I left mine long as I think I’ll use some sturdy walking boots next time. I needed to tighten the straps halfway through so I think boots will be better. Don’t leave the straps flying in the wind as you will stab one of them and fall bottom over boob! I’m 95 kg plus so I sank in our wet lawn with ease. A drier lawn and a less obese skinny dinny operator might struggle. I half expected to find broken or bent spikes at the end but not so ; pristine but spike bases needed brushing off as a little clod of soil forms. I used a crab like side to side movement rather than pacing up and down as I could see where I had been more easily. Great product. Don’t hesitate to buy. I’ve had two knee replacements in the last year and this was great physiotherapy! I’ll need them again for next Christmas shopping, other shoppers are inclined to keep their distance from a spiked clod hopper!!

Works well, but the straps for the heels are too short
It was easy to assemble (adding spike and straps to the sandal base) and it worked well, taking less time and effort than expected to cover my lawns. Each sandal is supplied with 4 straps of an equal length with 3 at the front and 1 at the back. The front ones were OK, but the one at the back was too short to go from the heel and around the front of the ankle (and without the rear strap in place, the sandals quickly slipped away from my shoes). After some experimentation, I realised that I didn't need the front-most strap (for my size 9 feet), so I created a double length strap at the back of each sandal. That worked OK, but it would have been nice not to have the hassle.

Well made
Well made and sturdy the only trouble I had was the buckles on the straps slip and you are constantly retightening them bit of a pain think I will cable tie them on for how long you use them for or find an old pair of boots and screw them to

Terrible - listen to the bad reviews
I read reviews for this and decided there were some good so it was worth a try. IT WAS NOT.I followed the handy advice of some other reviewers and assembled them extremely tightly with my own spanner (supplied one would have worked well enough but to make them extra secure). Managed to figure out the straps, not too difficult, and good to go. Attached them to my shoes and this is when it all went wrong. They wobble, aren’t secure even in the ground, and they get clogged up with soil even though I used them after 6 solid days of sunshine and no water! So you are literally stuck in the mud, can’t move, then when you free a leg only half the spikes go in so nearly fell over and broke my ankle - despite using two walking sticks to prop me up.Further to this discussed with amazon and since they are a THIRD PARTY SELLER I have to return for a refund which would mean dismantling the useless junk to return it! Absolute waste of time and money, either fork out (no pun intended) for one on a roller or use a manual one, it’s harder but it’ll work.

Takes a while to get used to walking in these
Bought these to aerate my lawn and for when I'm sowing grass seed on bare patches. Assembly can be a bit challenging to work out how to thread the straps correctly but with patience it's not too hard. These take a little while to put on, but once on the metal clips hold the straps pretty well and rarely come loose.Walking in these is a bit awkward at first but gets easier when you get used to them. They've worked well and my bare patches in my lawn have lovely new grass growing.

Easier to use than I anticipated
Arrived today, assembled in 10 minutes and tried on our wet lawn. All pretty straightforward! I suspect it depends on your soil type and how wet it is but on our wet, mossy lawn with a quite heavy soil I had no trouble walking about, in fact I was tempted to stride around which defeats the purpose. Apart from aerating better, smaller steps help keep your balance. Straps tend to rub across the top of your foot, might try two pairs of socks next time or a boot rather than a shoe otherwise all good so far. Of course I have no idea if it will make any difference at all to the lawn but I felt like I was doing something productive.

One size does not fit all
Far too big for anyone who is below a size 5 shoe/boot. Front strap barely covered the toe of my boot and kept coming off meaning my foot slipped forward a bit and would end up standing on the back heel support. All straps ridiculously long and kept coming untucked. Elastic heel strap not thick enough so allowed heel to move.

Who needs a workout with these shoes!
Wow, they definitely do work, however you will get a leg workout at the same time. My quad and glutes are throbbing!!! Instructions aren't great, mostly visual pictures instead of an explanation on how you put the straps in. If you're a size 6 uk you don't need all four straps attached just 3, and the spikes need adding on with bolts using the spanner, which is all included in this item. Highly recommend if you have a small lawn. Definitely not suitable if you have a big lawn.
