Great for kids outdoors or indoors, no fear of getting it wet!
This is a great little portable speaker, especially for kids, to carry around with them when they want some tunes. I say for kids because it's durable (survives drops easily) and waterproof, so no worries around water toys or the pool/bath. That is some peace of mind! I'm no audiophile, so the sound is perfectly fine for me. No complaints in that area. It's very easy to pair via bluetooth to your device of choice, and you're instantly listening with little effort. Having had our share of little bluetooth speakers, this one definitely looks the coolest. It's also got a magnet built in, so there's the added benefit of "let's find what it will stick to" activity. Pretty handy in the kitchen, although this has prompted another heated WHY ARE FRIDGES NO LONGER MAGNETIC convo at our breakfast table. But, it does stick to the microwave, so that's something. All in all, very happy with this little speaker and it will get tons of use.

Great budget speaker for a medium/large room
I already have quite a few Bluetooth speakers but what got me to get another is the fact that this speaker is pretty versitile. It has a built in magnet, waterproof, loop with an included carabiner, built in 1/4" threaded screw hole, and it includes a 1/4" threaded mount to bar clamp.A couple other features caught my eye. Wireless stereo pairing and party sync. Now to test this out I first paired it with my pixel 8 pro.Walked around the house, around 30ft away with no sound drops.Volume is decent especially for the small size but it's not going to be doing loud house/block parties with only an 8w output. At over 80% volume, I start noticing distortions. It's not the most precise sound I've heard but it's pleasing enough and doesn't hurt my ears (under 80% volume). Putting 2 minis in speaker pairing mode produces an even more pleasant sound. On the topic of wireless pairing, stereo pairing is super easy. Hold the Bluetooth button for 2 seconds on the speaker paired to my phone and then quickly press the Bluetooth button on the 2nd speaker to complete the stereo pairing. The first speaker becomes the left and the second is the right.I tried to see if I could do party sync but I could not figure that out. I only have 2 of the hydramini 2.0 and a hydratrek but couldn't get it to work no matter which one I tried to set as the primary. It's possible I may need a different speaker to be the primary or a 3rd mini? I'll need to test this out again if I get another speaker.I put the speakers into a bucket and it floats as advertised. Audio does get pretty muffled if it's face down but face up it floats level since the magnet is on the back (unlike the smaller hydratrek with the side magnet). The magnet is pretty strong and has no issues sticking onto a stable surface but I wouldn't trust bike riding with it side mounted with just the magnet. It may not fall directly off with small bumps but it would slowly slide down over time from each bump . The bar clamp opens fairly wide and can safely clamp onto a round bar that's .75" to 1.5" wide.Battery life says it'll last 12 hours, but I don't know if I'll ever hit that long to test.4/5 for me, 5/5 if I can get the party sync to work

EXCELLENT mini bluetooth speaker if you understand what you're buying
Man, Altec Landsing does it right. Here they go again with a 2.0 version of their Hydramini bluetooth speaker. I've been looking for a small, carry-anywhere speaker, and that's what led me to try this one.First of all, this thing is SMALL! It's about the size of your hand, maybe a little bigger, and has a few features you wouldn't expect. For instance, the entire back of the unit is magnetic, so you can "stick" it on something metal while listening. It also has a bracket that comes with it so you can connect it to a bar, like on an umbrella pole, and let it hang there and play music.Connecting to the speaker from my phone was probably the easiest I've ever had. Turned on the speaker, held down the power button and it just connected to my iPhone. It even has a voice assistant that lets you know the connection state like the speaker is talking to you.Now for what you want to know: The sound. Turning it on, my first impression was that the sound was amazing, especially for songs with more treble. Mids and highs are its strong point, though it does have a decent bass. Where you see this speaker's weakness is when you play another handheld bluetooth speaker next to it. It clearly lacks compared to similar-priced competition, and there's a reason it's considered the introduction to their Hydra line. All in all, I really like it for things like playing at the beach or even in the shower. Just know this is the entry model, so depending on your application, you may want to go one more level up.Recommended.

Compact and sturdy with impressive sound for its size
Have to admit its little smaller than I imagined despite seeing the dimensions in its description, but it's still a nice little speaker. Nicely compact, sturdy and well protected as the back and sides are rubber coated. Setup/pairing is easy and intuitive. Sound is better than you'd expect from something of its size. Both bass and separation/clarity are very good. Am really going enjoy having this out it the shop to listen to music. Tempted to get a second one to try the stereo pairing capability.

Turn up the volume!
Bluetooth is wonderful. This will allow me to listen to music from my phone while I work or even when I'm just sitting on the patio. Much better volume than just the phone alone. And small enough to be easily portable.
