Fantastic guitar for an amazing price.
This is the guitar I wanted from Sears when I was a kid. Looks great, Plays great, stays in tune. I had spent the night practicing on a Gibson LP Std, and a PRS MCcarty, then this arrived and the happiness continued. The intonation was a tiny bit out, but it tuned right up, and the patch I had loaded had it growling hard rock immediately. The surprise was switching to a smooth sound, backing off the tone and it produced a creamy, warm jazz tone that cost me an hour of my life exploring. I have a set of P90 humbucker pickups coming for this guitar, but I am going to buy another one to see what more I can get from these with other mods. With the price of even Epiphones going through the roof, I would happily recommend Leo Jaymz guitars to anyone looking for a first guitar, or anyone looking to mod, or anyone just wanting a great looking guitar that plays well. The neck, and the rest of it, look and feel like my 1967 Teisco, which is a good thing, as those are great cheap guitars too. The pickups are slightly microphonic, but much tamer than the antiques, and much clearer. It will need to be restrung and some fretboard oil applied, and the frets buffed. as they are very scratchy out of the box from sitting and shipping.

Great guitar for the money.
I ordered this guitar based on the price and other reviews. I build and mod guitars as a hobby so I ordered this thinking I would have to change some hardware and electronics. All I really needed to do was adjust the truss rod and the string action a bit. After that, I checked the intonation which was pretty spot on. I decided that the hardware and electronics are adequate for what this guitar is. The fit and finish of this guitar is excellent and the neck is great with level frets and no sharp fret ends. It plays and sounds fantastic for a guitar of this price range. The pickups are not microphonic and the guitar looks and plays great the way it is, much to my surprise. I had planned on at least changing the strings but I don't think I'm even going to do that because they are pretty good. I would recommend this for someone just starting out even though a few adjustments might be needed. Leo Jaymz really did a nice job with this guitar.

9.5/10
Okay im gonna say all the good things about this guitar right off the bat, and then my personal dislikes about it. First off, right out of the box, this guitar is a very good guitar. No sharp fret ends, no unleveled fret (at least from what i noticed), stays fairly in tune most the time, and no faulty equipment. The action was perfect for me, not too high, not too low. It was very fun to play right out of the box and Iโd definitely recommend this to a beginner who is just looking to learn guitar at a low cost and at a low volume in their room. Now onto my personal dislikes First off the pickups were somewhat microphonic. They squealed as soon as i cranked up my amp just a little. Not the feedback kind of squeal.. the ear-piercing high pitched horrid squeal, so I had to swap the pickups. Secondly, the strings wereโฆ not that great. I still played the guitar with the strings it came with because it wasnt too big of a deal for me but they werent that great. Those are the two complaints i really have about the guitar but theyre not that big of a deal to someone who is just learning guitar in their room at a low volume, or wearing headphones All in all, id recommend swapping the pickups (if you know how to do it) definitely change the strings, and maybe the tuners to some better quality ones or even locking tuners. I love the guitar, and im definitely gonna play this live at gigs (now that it has way better pickups)

Worth the price
Frets were level, but some sharp fret ends..It was intonated very well out of the box and the string heighths were satisfactory although the first thing I did was put on a new set of 9's and lower the action just a bit..The tuners don't hold tune very well, some jumping in the gears on a couple of the tuners..but that's ok, at this price you can usually expect to replace the tuners anyways..The pots are smooth turning and quiet. The three way switch is good, no play in the mechanism. The construction of the guitar is sound..I was buying this to modify anyhow. Since it's black I ordered some gold locking tuners, a gold roller bridge and tailpiece, and some better (tonerider) humbuckers in gold finish. As long as the wiring harness continues to function properly I will use the one that came with it although I haven't opened it up and I'm not sure about capacitors, so if there aren't any or they are just the run-of-the-mill orange drops I will install some bumblebees instead..Change the knobs to black tophats with gold tone and volume ref. on the top, change screws to gold ones, and then it will be a nice black SG with gold hardware.. So the $125 I have in it, plus another under $200.00, I have a nice SG that'll blow any $750.00 Epiphone out of the water, and be just about able to keep up with alot of Gibsons.. So yes, for me, it's well worth the money..

A Good Purchase - Beginners, jump on this!
A solid guitar. Out of the box, the neck is good, straight, clean. The frets are all even! Slight adjustment on the action. Intonation is spot on, believe it or not. I was pleasantly surprised. My only other surprise was that the finish is NOT gloss - No lacquer or "clearcoat" over the paint. This gives it a very slight texture. I imagine this is by design, because SOMEONE would have flagged it while performing the setup, right? I hope that the paint offers as a sealant to the pores of the wood. The tuners are smooth and it tunes easily. The body is a good thickness, not overbearing like a LP can be. I would give 5 stars if I knew the finish would withstand penetrating dirt. Edit 1/3 - I hoped that Leo Jaymz would reach out regarding this review, but not so. However, after some research on good ole YT, viewing others who purchased this Flourecent Green model, I see that the matte finish is ineed the desired look. Now that I know I did not get something defective, I will bump my review up. :)

Very Good Quality. Much Better Than Expected.
Playable right out of the box unlike several of the high end guitars I played at Guitar Center last week. It arrived in a very secure molded styrofoam box. The fit and finish is very good. You can see the wood grain through the gloss paint. No buzzing. Low action. Only 2 frets were slightly high. And the nut needed some filing. No fret sprout but I did need to dress the fret ends with a file because they were sharp. Frets were pretty smooth but I polished them anyway. Electronics are not top end of course but surprisingly good sounding. Tuners are satisfactory for home use but feel cheap. They probably should be replaced at some point but not right away. The body and neck is is much better than expected. Very good access to the highest frets. Looks and feels like a Gibson or Epiphone complete with the inherent SG neck dive that they all have. LOL. Not a big deal for me but it may be an issue for you. I like the sound of the humbuckers and it feels good to play with a flat 14" radius. Balanced bass, mid, and high end response. Smooth mellow sound. Not muddy and a little bright but nowhere near as bright and snappy as my guitars with single coil pickups. The control pots are good but not high end. There is no hum, static, or unwanted noises. They work smoothly. Sustain is good. And it's fairly loud/resonate unplugged compared to some solid body guitars. My biggest complaint was the sharp chrome knob for the shoulder strap. It's was placed on the back of the guitar at the top corner of the body above the neck right where the guitar contacts your body when playing, especially when seated. I had to remove it. It was so uncomfortable. I will figure out something better when I have time. Other than that it's hard to put this guitar down. I've had it a couple weeks and absolutely love playing it.

The guitar looks good but needs some upgrades
Lousy tuners and the neck flexes easily. Control cavity cover is scratched up only because it had no plastic on it to protect it. I am a guitar tech so I'm replacing the tuners and gonna see what I can do about the neck. i can say the guitar has a really nice paint job. The pickups sound okay for the price. I did do a quick setup on the guitar getting the intonation within the ball park and the action close to my likings. It's the cheapest guitar I ever bought and figured for the price I would have to do some upgrades and repairs.

You're going to love this guitar!
Absolutely flawless! This black beauty tuned up perfectly and the intonation was spot on. Fretwork seems very smooth, maybe a very minor rough edge on a couple, but I have the tools to smooth them out if I wish. Neck is straight with no apparent bowing. Tuners seem smooth as glass, but will give them time to aclimate to the strings to see if they stay in tune. The strings are common type, seem to play well, but of course I will change them to Ernie Ball Slinky's down the road. Fretboard looks just like rosewood, but i am no expert to determine if it is a composite or not. The nut looks like bone, but if it is not, they sure did a good job aging the plastic to look like it. Over all, it is a beautiful guitar to look at and I am extremely happy with it.

Unbelievable straight out of the box, order one right now!
This guitar has impressed me more than I can say. It was perfect right out of the box - action, intonation bang on, which I've never seen before. Plays better than my Epiphone Custom Shop SG at about a quarter of the price, even plays better than many Gibson SG's I've played. Bound fret board, jumbo nickle frets with no ragged edges, really nice looking trapezoid fret markers. Honestly, the only things I did was to throw on a set of strap locks and my own strings. I'm now looking at some other models offered by this vendor, and would not hesitate to recommend these guys to anyone. I think we'll be seeing a lot more from Leo Jamez in the future, they're going to give the increasingly lazy giants a real run for the money!

Excellent guitar.
Wowsers. Incredible guitara for the price point. I dont know what I was expecting, but excellence was not it. It was fairly playable right out of the box with a little fret buzz. I put my own strings on it, and gave the truss rod a tweak and it plays sooooooo easy.... no more fret buzz. I did not expect this quality.

Affordable quality Epitome alternative
I thought I would treat myself to an Epitome alternative. Found this and am extremely happy with my purchase. It motivates me to return to my guitar practice. I will link this with Rocksmith 2014 remastered (both on ps3 and Steam) in order to make my guitar practice more enjoyable. Have also invested in a mobile guitar amp for those times when I canโt be bothered to set up my full sized guitar amp. If you are looking to treat yourself just go for it , this guitar is very affordable yet an excellent piece of kit.
