Jen’s modern techniques and simple execution are wonderfully laid out!
Jens amazing talent and creativity is at my fingertips! I have never block printed anything before but I have no doubt I’ll be able to do it now w confidence. I’ve watched Jens work on Instagram for a while & love her unique style; it’s so cheerful & pretty but also strong and lively!Seems like the book would be great for beginners or even seasoned artists who want to try a modern approach to printing on fabric using these fun carved and painted blocks. So many different crafts are able to be utilized from beginning to end on the projects: from designing and carving the blocks, to spacing out and placing the carved designs onto the fabric into a pattern, to sewing a custom garment with the finished fabric, and everything in between! She’s even included patterns to make her garments if u want to.Another reason I like the book is whether I just want a fun day of drawing, carving, or printing or if i want to spend a whole weekend on a project from start to finish in a deep dive within this engaging array of crafts, I’m covered. And the book itself is printed and laid out so beautifully, like a guidebook straight thru jens creative process. Im sure it will be among the most useful crafting books I’ve purchased.

very inspiring
I first heard Jen Hewett on a podcast called "love to sew" and really liked her way of explaining things. I now follow her on Instagram and just love her. This book is very clear about how to print on fabric, how to approach creativity and what to do with all that fabric once you've printed it. She has a few patterns in the back of the book and lots of ideas. I would totally recommend this book.

Imagine all the possibilities for having your own unique wardrobe!
I pre-ordered this book as soon as I learned it existed. I became a fan of the author's textile work through her custom printed Fringe Field Knitting Bags. I love the fluidity and beauty of her designs. I am beyond thrilled that she has shared some of her magical methods. I have printmaking experience, but have never printed on fabric before and this book generously shares all the details to get started. Jen's talent makes the projects look effortless but her straightforward presentation is encouraging that beginners can do this too and "mistakes" add character to the finished item. The book includes several full size printed sewing patterns. Garment sizes included are XS - XL (size 40" bust). Sadly, these aren't my size, but there's plenty of exciting content without using the garment patterns.

This book is more than beautiful. It's practical and well written
This book is more than beautiful. It's practical and well written, with plenty of inspiration to get you going. There are so many levels to engage with the book -- you can just carve and print scarves, towels, and totes -- no sewing. You can create custom textiles to sew. Actual patterns are tucked into a clever book pocket. I learned a lot just by reading the text. I also recently took a class with the author, Jen Hewett, and the techniques are improvisational and precise, and printing doesn't even take a lot of time to cleanup. Something to do in your apartment, when you need a feed your creative side. I love this book.

Technique? great! Patterns? meh...
I typically wear a medium but the measurements say I am an XL. I made one dress as an XL and had to cut it way down. I made a second with the cap sleeves as a L but the darts and arms gape so bad. Then the neck sits way high. I've had to take them both apart a few times to adjust them and they still don't look super good. Disappointing after all the hard work of printing and processing the fabric over 2 weeks. I am not overly or underly busted or wasted so I am not sure what the problem is but I am hesitant to try the patterns again. I will continue to use the printing process but with other patterns.

Love this book!
Iʻve been following Jen Hewett ever since I discovered her on Pinterest. I enrolled in her online printing class last year and subscribe to her newsletter. But when I heard she was releasing a book, I was thrilled. And I am so happy. What I love about Jen Hewett is that she makes art approachable, even to non-artists like me. Her projects are inspiring and doable, Photos and instructions are clear and intuitively presented. Whether youʻre a beginner looking for a hobby or already a seasoned pro hoping to expand your knowledge, give Jenʻs book a try.

Terrific sharing of expertise!
A wonderful book. The author's explanations and step-by-step instructions are clear and easy to follow. She is generous in sharing her "this is what works for me" in regards to tools, ink, etc. I have several books on block printing and this one is by far the most helpful. I find myself going back to it, over and over. I think it is the perfect book for beginners and more advanced "carver/stampers" alike. I also appreciate that it is spiral bound so it can stay open on my table.

It would have been useful to have had this information in the listing
I bought this mainly as I was interested in the sewing patterns and using hand printed fabric. The pattern sizes run from a 30 to 40 inch bust, so will need altering. It would have been useful to have had this information in the listing.
