## Overview

Jacquard iDye for Natural Fabrics in Olive is a dissolvable, hot water dye packet designed to effortlessly infuse vibrant, lasting color into 2-3 pounds of natural fabrics like cotton, linen, silk, and rayon. Compatible with stovetop or washing machine use, it offers a mess-free, professional-grade dyeing experience that revives faded garments and linens with rich, true-to-tone hues.

## Description

Available in a wide variety of colors (for all natural fabrics (cotton, silk, wool, linen and rayon) and polyesters and nylons). There are also two laundry aids: Color Remover which will remove or lighten a color and brighten whites and Sun Blocker which, when added to the wash cycle will penetrate clothing and block harmful UV rays from the sun. iDye comes in a packet that dissolves in water which means there is no handling of messy dye powders. Just throw the dye packet in add salt and run through the wash cycle. It is ultimately the easiest way to get gorgeous color! Packets weigh 14 gms and will dye 2-3 pounds of fabric each.

Review: This dye worked great! - I am thrilled with the effectiveness of this dye - very consistent result, true color, and simple instructions. I have a king-size sheet set (flat sheet, fitted sheet, and two pillowcases) that I wanted to dye olive green. I found this iDye product on desertcart. I was a little concerned, since there was only one review and I didn't want to ruin what are fairly new and expensive sheets. They were a mint green that clashes with our other colors. (Note iDye has this product for natural fabrics and a different dye for polyester and nylon blends.) Anyway, I took the plunge hoping for the best. I decided to do the entire sheet set at one time and diligently followed the instructions that came with the dye. I used a top-load washing machine and two packets of dye (based on the weight of sheet set). Since the fabric needed to be pre-wetted, I simply washed the sheets first and set them aside. Then I turned the temperature up on our hot water heater and gave it time to heat - this might not be necessary, but the instructions make it clear that you need very hot water. Then, I filled the machine to medium load (normally I wash them on high load, but this was just enough room for them to move freely). I added the two soluble dye packets and let them agitate for 30 seconds, added 1-1/2 cups of Morton Plain Salt (non-iodized), and added the sheet set. I extended the dyeing time to 60 minutes, per the instructions for better fixation, by resetting the wash cycle several times before it drained to move to the rinse cycle. After that, I let the cycle complete and washed the sheet set from start with a mild detergent in cold water. Then into the dryer. I turned the water heater back to normal and ran a cleaning wash/rinse cycle. I'm providing the detail in case it's helpful. It might seem like a lot, but was actually quite simple. The sheets are now back on the bed - they look and feel great. I don't expect any trouble, but I'll add info if something goes wrong as we use and wash the sheets. Finally, I had to answer some questions about this "toy" - since the dye is sold by a toy store and fulfilled by desertcart. I picked the highest ratings, but have nothing to do with the toy questions.
Review: LOVED IT - The color quality is amazing! The first shirt was a tester so I would know how long to steep the clothes for. It came out a bit splotchy because I didn’t stir it in the pot often enough and I think the water was too hot. It was a white shirt with blue stripes and after boiling for 15 minutes it came out very opaque but a tiny bit splotchy. Second shirt was in the pot for just a few minutes and came out great. No smell and very fast dye job.

## Features

- iDye comes in a dissolvable packet, so there are never any messy powders to handle: simply dissolve the packet in the dye bath or drop it in the washer, then add the fabric.
- A hot water dye that produces brilliant colors on any natural fabric, iDye may be used on the stovetop or in the washing machine on the hottest cycle. Great for over-dyeing techniques and reviving faded garments!
- Fabrics, Fibers & Surfaces : cotton, linen, canvas, silk, rayon and more
- Each packet will dye 2-3 lbs of dry fabric

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have a powder blue sham I want to dye a blue gray...how do I do that?**
A: This is a silver gray. I easily dyed a pair of pink jeans a normal, medium gray with it. Note that it did not dye over the Banana Republic stamp in the back inside waistband, the tag, nor the white threading sewn throughout the pants. It dyes cotton but, other materials such as rayon or polyester, not so much.If you want a blue-gray: they make another color, I believe it is called gunmetal (?), that is slightly more blue than gray but still a nice deep blue-gray initially. With many washings (I dyed my sheets and pillowcases with it), it will fade but is still a nice color and not too blue--it goes well with my light blue/slate gray/black/taupe color scheme. If that's not the correct name, it's close, just look at the color samples they offer; they are pretty accurate.Hope this helps.

**Q: I have white 100% cotton chair slipcovers and want a dark gray would this work on its own or should I combine with black? Each slip covers weighs 4#s**
A: I dyed a pair of already medium grey pants that I accidentally spilled bleach on. Got a lovely medium (dove?) grey color. If you want dark grey, I'd combine it with black or navy.

**Q: I would like to dye some cotton, acrylic, nylon blend white socks grey. Would it work to use both the natural fiber and polyester dyes together?**
A: From the Jacquard website: Using iDye with Fabric BlendsFor blended fabrics containing both synthetic and natural fibers, use iDye for Natural Fabrics with the corresponding iDye Poly color AT THE SAME TIME! (Or, for more interesting, two-tone, heather effects, try pairing two different colors.)

**Q: I forgot to add salt to the dye solution, will it fade faster? . Thanks Irene**
A: It sets the dye better. I guess we will see. Wash in cold or cool water from now on.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great! Darker than expected
*by J***S on January 25, 2025*

Not a fan of them putting a sticker on the back packaging. Took me 5 min to get enough of it off to read. I decided to do stove top Method and it worked out pretty well. There are some spots that didn't dye but I'm pretty sure that's bc I couldn't mix it in my pot well (too small a pot). I'll cover them with stuff anyways. This was a cotton canvas bag.
