DeBrett Fires NEW 16" 40cm Inset Tray LED Electric Fire for Coal Fire Back Grate Basket with Heater

I was looking for a coal effect fire to fit into an small Edwardian open fire which we have opened up. I mainly wanted it for the effect rather than the heat as we have central heating. It does seem expensive but this is the only product I could find that would fit the space. I have bought a reclaimed cast iron fire surround and fret and this coal bed fits perfectly inside. It doesn't look much on its own but in the setting it looks great. I noticed one of the reviews said it doesn't flicker which nearly put me off buying it, but when we opened the top to look at the bulb we noticed a silver open wheel that had fallen off in transit. This hangs above the bulb and spins to create the flickering effect.. which makes it look more effective. The fire came within a few days of ordering and was very well packed in a massive double box. I would recommend it to someone who wants a coal bed effect to fit in a small space. It is reasonably high as well so you can see it above the front of the fire fret. Just check your measurements to see if it will fit into your space.

The product is sold with real coal which is totally inappropriate for the light given. I have purchased an amber glass aggregate, which matched perfectly with the colour of the light of the fire. If this was sold with the fire it would make the price more acceptable.

The new firebasket fitted into our Victorian fireplace opening after removing the old one exactly, couldn't be better using all the old fireplace fittings. The flashing red led lights are very affective when the coal affect cover are fitted, I had red and orange coloured glass chunks and slivers of varying sizes from my previous firebox that I laid over the cover together with some of the coal supplied looks great, completed in two hours. The fan heater works well but is just a stand by. The suppliers saw a gap in the market and have filled it, well done.

This fire smells badly when the heater is on. The lack of a CE mark on the appliance or CE certificate is also a concern. Really would not recommend the product or the seller.

This pretend fire looks good but really disappointed. It is just a cheap fan heater with a molded plastic front the top is just coloured plastic with a light bulb and it is supplied with two little bags of real coal.. to make it look anything at all I have had to purchase a nice "fret" to stand in front of it because it doesn't come with one. And it looks totally stupid without ..... I think the price is totally exorbitant..

Great heat output and looks fab.

A very good fit. Plenty of heat and quiet. We would have liked a warmer color from the LED inside.
