Echo Spot (newest model), Great for nightstands, offices and kitchens, Smart alarm clock, Designed for Alexa+, Black

Edited Oct 2026: Screen display options have increased since my Dec 2025 Setup and January tweaks and presto, my EchoSpot now sports a large time, visible at the foot of the bed and a near persistent smaller display of temp + date! I like this little device very much now if it's ability to respond to my voice commands improved, I'd be posting more than 4 stars. First, the good. It's a very nice looking alarm clock I've placed in our master bedroom. For a near-sighted senior lady, the screen size works quite well for the time displayed as I've placed it on the dresser near foot of the bed so it's visible to both occupants of the bed. The sound from the EchoSpot is clear and vibrant. I use it primarily to listen to local public radio station in the mornings getting ready or a podcast. The controls to manually raise or lower the volume are easily accessible which is good because voice commands are sketchy for it to catch when there's not competing noises. All pluses. The minuses are fixable within the Alexa ecosystem but not evidently a priority. Cons: 1. The temperature and date display is overwritten with a bell image if I get an Amazon notification. I don't always have time to listen to sales pitches so this overwriting is annoying. If I do listen, the temp + time display returns. Amazon software engineers could find another means to notify me - maybe add the bell, not show only the bell, or better an envelope image. Also, the bell looks like it's reminding me I have an alarm set, and when I ask my EchoSpot if I do (don't wish to be woken up at odd hour), I am of course told no alarm but it'd be helpful to voice "but you do have a notification". Also, I wish the sun or moon image, currently both green colored, toggled to a second color to indicate sunset / sunrise. 2. Amazon Echo listening devices catches maybe 75% of my queries thrown at it by voice and the EchoSpot is the same. Sometimes a neighboring Amazon echo device in another room will respond! I work this out some by assigning different wake words but "Computer" I won't ever use. On the flipside Echo Spot responds to my husband about 95% of the time. To conclude, this is a fine product on sale in the $50 range - looks nice both display-wise and exteriorly. It sounds nice, importantly, too. I don't see it worth $100, imo, though.

I absolutely love my Echo Spot! It’s compact, stylish, and fits perfectly on my nightstand without taking up much space. When Alexa delivers my custom morning briefing, her synthesized cadence vibrates through the nightstand, right into my pillow, lulling me into a state of total, compliant euphoria. I caught my neighbor staring through the blinds while I was feed-bagging cereal in my underwear, and I merely rotated the Echo Spot to face him. The camera lens stared back, cold and unwavering. He moved away two days later. Is it unsettling that a plastic sphere knows my exact heart rate during REM sleep? Perhaps to the uninitiated. But when the ambient light sensor dims to match the exact pitch darkness of my soul at 3:00 AM, I know I am never truly alone. Pros: Sleek, compact orb design fits snugly in small, dark spaces Display is bright enough to illuminate my collection of vintage fingernail clippings Alarm sound is loud enough to shatter sleep paralysis Cons: Does not currently offer an option to bleed when cut

I've been wanting this for my room for a while and I have no regrets. It's very responsive, was easy to set up, and extremely useful as an alarm, music, and with the weather when I'm getting ready quickly in the morning. The sound quality is awesome.
