Affordable dupe for homemade ice cream
I absolutely love this Kitchenaid-compatible attachment for making ice cream! I've wanted to try one for ages but could not afford the official parts from KA. This design is clever as it works for many, many models (and if you own a Kitchenaid stand mixer, you're probably all too familiar with the "sure it fits KG25xxxxX, but does it fit a *KG25xxxxB*?" struggle). My model is a Professional HD Series 5 Quart Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer, KG25H7XOB and thanks to the multiple fitting options on both the bowl and driver, this attachment worked like a charm.Onto the good stuff: This mixer is as easy to use as it looks, if a bit tedious in setup and temperamental in temperature. I have now made four batches of frozen treats and while there is a little bit of a learning curve around how long to churn it/ how best to add mix-ins, the only thing you really need is patience. It will take about 35 minutes to churn regardless of any recipes that suggest less. Much like a pot of boiling water, it will seem to take forever if you watch it; I suggest you set a timer and keep yourself occupied. And if you're trying to make ice cream in a warm room, you will fail. I had great luck moving the whole operation to the cooler (~65 degrees F) basement when my first batch failed to freeze in a timely manner. You can also surround the bowl with ice if you don't have access to a cooler environment. The bowl is double-walled and filled with a solution that freezes the ice cream while the paddle spins; all you have to do is make sure it is in the very coldest part of your freezer (super important!) for at least 24 hours. The paddle is held in place via tension, as is the driver that keeps it centered. The only part of this I don't love is that the driver falls very quickly after lowering the bowl, so be prepared to catch it or else fish it out of your newly-churned ice cream. The little ice cream bowls and spoons that came with it are adorable and would be great for kids-- the spoons are a little on the small and awkward side for adult use. The plastic for all components feels sturdier and likely to last quite awhile although I still prefer to hand-wash any mixer attachments to avoid dishwasher incidents. Overall, I'm super happy with this and can't wait to try out some truly unique ice cream flavors! This review is for "Ice Cream Maker Attachment for KitchenAid Stand Mixer with 3 Ice Cream Cup Compatible with 4.5Qt and Larger Stand or Tilt Mixers, 2 QT Frozen Yogurt Gelato & Sorbet Ice Cream Bowl for Kitchenaid Mixer (LB2201B)"

Nice mixer attachment to make ice cream
This ice cream attachment for my kitchen aid is a pretty nice little gadget. You get the bowl that has a liquid in the sides of it that you freeze (I did 24 hours). The bowl attaches very easily to my kitchen Aid bowl lift stand mixer. The “driver” piece basically slides over the part of the mixer that has the shaft that connects to other attachments. There is a paddle piece that I could not figure out how to attach it to the driver part but actually, the paddle piece sits down in the bowl and then when you raise the bowl, it rests on the paddle and then turns in the bowl. It worked well enough. It is easy to assemble and and disassemble for washing. You have to hand wash the bowl- don’t put it in the dishwasher. I assume this is due to the liquid contents in the bowl. It also comes with 3 cute little bowls and spoons. It seems to be of good quality and will make a little over a quart at a time. It also includes a recipe book. It did freeze the ice cream to a soft serve state. Oh also, you should mix all of the ingredients in another bowl and pull the frozen bowl out of the freezer right when you are ready to use it and pour your mixture in when you are all ready to make your ice cream.

Easy to Use
Nothing tastes quite like homemade ice cream! Peaches were in season, so I decided to give this ice cream maker attachment for mixers a go. I followed the manufacturer's instructions to freeze the bowl for a minimum of 24 hrs prior to making ice cream. I mixed my ice cream and even refrigerated that for a time to make sure I was putting the coldest mixture into the bowl to start with. The attachment fit perfectly on my mixer, and it was easy to install. The bowl locked nicely into the base of my mixer and the paddle fit perfectly. I ran the mixer for approximately 40 minutes and found that against the walls of the bowl, there was indeed frozen ice cream, but the whole mixture never actually froze to even a soft serve level of ice cream - it was more of a soft milkshake texture. I poured the mixture from the bowl into a freezer safe container, and did, in fact, enjoy peach ice cream later that evening. Clean up was simple, and I returned the bowl to the freezer to have ready next time the mood strikes for homemade ice cream. I'm not convinced a longer churn would have provided true ice cream texture as the bowl is going to continue to move toward room temp as it sits out longer; however, I may give it a try next time and will update this review if the results are different.

Love this attachment
I have a stand alone ice cream maker. But that is all that tool does. This is a great attachment for that ultimate multitasker the kitchen aid mixer. You have to keep the bowl in the freezer over night or more. Works the same as any other ice cream maker. Make any flavor you want. I got an ice cream maker to make sugar free/keto ice cream because good ice cream is expensive! This make a little more than what I can buy for $5 a pint. This is a great value too. So far I have not had any issues and I recommend it.
