My first experience installing balusters, learning curve
I really like the intricate and varied look of these balusters. They arrived as described, with a selection of double and single basket, and double twist, models, as well as the swivel shoes hardware.I installed them at the edge of the loft balcony in my arch cabin to fill in a gap between the post and the arched wall. The project required cutting the balusters down to fit, and I started by using a hacksaw and switched to a metal blade in a jigsaw. The top of the baluster does. not need to be cut at an angle matching the wall, it needs to be cut just straight across to fit into the shoe, which is then angled to fit the wall.Since there are no instructions with the balusters, I had to do some research and educated guessing on other details of installation as well. Of note is that the hole in one end of the baluster is not functional or part of using a set screw, it seems likely that it is just part of hanging up the object during the painting process. Also, the balusters are cupped in the shoe and thus cannot protrude past the base. So no need (or ability) to cut recesses for the top and bottom of the baluster in your material. The shoes do the holding in place, and seem adequately strong for my application. I did use longer screws than those provided to hold the top shoe, which in my case goes. into drywall.Nor are there set screws to hold the shoes in place, given the cups. It's somewhat tricky to figure out the length of the baluster to go from point A to point B. I made multiple small cuts to figure out the best length. Getting the baluster plumb was made much easier by the use of a digital angle finder with a magnetic base to snap onto the flat part of the baluster. My initial attempts to use a spirit level didn't work because it's tricky to find plumb on the spiral flutes, the level just rocks around on them.Review of Aiokly 9 Pack Stair Balusters,1/2" x 44",Hollow Double&Single Basket & Double Twist Balusters for Staircase Interior with 18 Swivel Shoes Iron Balusters for Staircase

Are well made and sturdy
I own an old home and need to do a little work on the stair and porch railing. I want to use wrought iron instead of aluminum, partially because it is more in line with what would have been used when the house was built in 1900, and partially because wrought iron, although more work in the up-keep department, is more durable than aluminum. I wasn't sure how well these would work outside in the weather being in the rain and getting the southern sun beating down on them all day, however I have to say they have withstood the environment very well. The balusters arrived in good condition, no dents, scrapes or warped balusters and they have withstood the roughhousing of 2 large Airedale Terriers. I'm very happy with them.As for my reviews, I am someone who is selective and particular and have no qualms whatsoever leaving an honest review regardless if it is favorable, critical or somewhere in between. Not only am I a newly recruited Vine Reviewer for Amazon, I have been an Amazon customer since 2006 and know the value of an honest review, as does Amazon for they specifically direct its Vine Reviewers to be honest in their assessment of a product because their customers rely on reviews when deciding whether to purchase an item.

Got me out of a pinch
I'm in the process of selling my house and the inspection said I needed to fill in the open space along my basement steps. It wasn't a condition when I bought the house, so it caught me off guard and I needed to act fast. I bought these and another set.The only tough part is cutting the baulesters to size. They are solid metal so easy methods won't work. I used a grinding wheel, which was a mess but did the job. And since the ends fit into the shoes, I didn't need to work to hard to knock the rough edge off. These got me out of a tough spot and they look real nice.

Very heavy rods banging around in a box half way around the world
No wonder they get banged up. What I like about them is they are very heavy rods. What I don't like is they are all scratched up and I am not sure what to do about it. It will take a lot of work to sand them down and repaint them.

These are very nice!
I am remodeling my house and am to the point of working on my stairs. I am replacing the old builder grade wooden spindles for these, I think they are beautiful and cant wait until I get them all put up. They come with shoes that swivel to meet the slope of the staircase, I love that! When I do finally get to replacing my old ones I will h ave to cut these down a bit, my old ones are only 37” and these new ones are 44”. Very nice, and I am glad I ordered them!

Great looking balusters, shoes included!
These balusters look really nice, they are hollow so I will be keeping the spacing under 4 inches. I do worry about rusting if used outdoor so I will look into a way to add extra protection. The fact that the shoes are included make theae a real deal as buy shoes separately really adds up.
