Too hard to lock

This review is on the wire twisting pliers from MFBJXC. The photos show details of the pliers after I removed them from the package and using it to twist wire. The listing gives an accurate description of what these pliers are used for and how to use them. I found the pliers to be manufactured well and the only things I think could be improved are. 1. The handle for pulling the wire for the twisting action would give you a better grip if it were stepped instead of a flat surface. 2. The cutting area in the jaws did not have a 1/16” gap, then you would be able to actually cut wire with the pliers.I did find that the locking action worked very well and I had no difficulty using it. The manufacturer’s box tape seal had been cut and the box was already opened so the supplied 0.5 mm wire that was to be included according to the listing was missing. So I ended up using 1.2 mm wire which is a much larger wire size than these pliers are rated for and won’t allow you to lock the wire in the jaws. Because of the size of the wire I was using, I had to pre-twist the wire and loop it around through the cutting area (which doesn’t cut wire by the way). With some difficulty I was able to get a good twist on the wire, as you can see in the photos the wire twist was clean and tight. With a couple of improvements these twisting pliers would be a better product. But I still consider them to be good wire twisting pliers especially at their price point. I recommend these pliers from MFBJXC!

I've seen pliers of this nature at Harbor Freight. The concept is sound. In this case, the execution of the concept renders the finished product completely useless.I don't know if they're all this way, but the one I got was so badly machined that you, literally, have to use two hands to squeeze the handle hard enough to engage the locking mechanism - and that's without any wire in it. With a piece of wire in place, it's literally impossible.The reason becomes apparent when you examine the picture I've attached. There's a 1/8" gap between the lug on the handle and the locking mechanism when the pliers is in the completely closed position. This means you essentially have to bend a piece of 3/8' x 1/4" cast steel to make up total gap of 3/16" just to get the lug into place so it can be locked - and, again, that's without any wire in the jaws.I rarely give anything 1 star, but this wire twisting pliers totally deserves it.
