That is the answer to a aquarium with large & messy fish like Oscars.
This product is the answer. My 150-gallon Oscar fish tank went from so-so to fantastic. The time it saves in cleaning is defiantly overweight's the price of the unit. And water quality went up tremendously because all "doodoo" is washed away and not polluting water for day and days. In my setup wash is engaged approximately one's a day, so water waste is minimal.Defiantly a buy.

WARNING: DOES NOT HAVE UV LIGHT!!!
WARNING: DOESS NOT HAVE UV LIGHT!!!After I went through the trouble of buying all of the fittings to connect it to my pond, as soon as I finally turned it on i noticed that there is no UV light anywhere inside this filter. When I unboxed it I thought that the light was under the sewage collector (as it appears on the item photo on the listing) but there is nothing there. It's not malfunctioning, it simply isn't there. I will be contacting Amazon and the seller about this, because one way or another they will have to deliver on what they were advertising and what I bought! In the meantime, DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!

Finally an RDF without breaking the bank!
***Update 8/19/24Filter is still working without issue. Re-rated down to 4 stars since the plastic is starting to warp a little. Also, this only supports pump feed and will not work as gravity feed (inlet too small).***I have the RDF running for a week now on my 1300g koi pond. So far, so good!Pros:Unbeatable price/performance. Nothing comes close (as of 5/14/24)Mechanically removes particulates from systemDecent build quality. Similar to others on the market 3-5x priceFairly small dimensionsCons:3000GPH not possible. Real world is ~2k max using pump feedInput pipe is 1.5in. Limits gravity feed throughputSpray pressure decent, but could be betterInstructions are pretty bad. Had to watch installation videos from other unitsUnknown long-term reliability / warrantyPrice increased $50 since i bought :(Conclusion:Finally, an RDF without breaking the bank! I was going to DIY an RDF as they were too expensive, but no longer. Keep your expectations in check though, it has a few minor annoyances and reliability is unknown. Happy so far... will update as I get more use.

UV Light Doesn't Come On
I just received my 4000 gph model. It has a UV light but it never has come on. How do I turn it on? Does it come on automatically? I cannot find any instructions regarding how this functions. I have only had it a day so I cannot rate anything else right now. I will increase stars if manufacturer get back to me regarding this issue.Update: Manufacturer got back to me quickly. You have to flip the blue switch in the control box to turn it on. Thought that was the case. However, there were no directions regarding the UV light. So, I didn't want to short anything since the switch looked like a fuse switch. Increased the stars to 3 since I have only had this a few days. I will run it awhile longer and adjust stars accordingly.

Drained my pond
Bought in October been running a few months and woke up one morning and could hear the pump screaming for the spray bar. Ran dry for god knows how long. Float switch failed and made the spray bar stay on until it ran out of water. Good thing I have a raised drain in my pond just incase something like this happens and lose thousands of dollars worth of koi. Will probably throw this thing in the trash after this. So upset.

The best!
The media could not be loaded. This was very very easy to install on our build for an indoor fish farm. We used 6 100 gallon stock tanks, bottom plumbed to a pump that lifts water to the inlet of drum filter. The pump is a little too much pressure for the drum filter and flaps the sensor to clean filter so we installed a valve to slow down the volume. Water moves through to the outlet side. We have a reducer here from 3” to 2” but doesn’t create to much back pressure on the screen filter. This needs to be able flow away quickly. The filter has to be above the water line! This isn’t a pressurized system. Waste is 1.5” plumbed to a drain but can be captured to water plants or whatever. Inlet is 1.5”. When triggered the pump inside the filter cleans the screen vigorously, and dumps waste through sewage line. This is well designed and well done for the money. Looking forward to a full load of fish and how this drum filter WITH UV LIGHT, performs.
