Not ultimate! Leaves a lot to be desired. Try Outdoor Life or other hunting magazines. Good section on gutting and quartering, however.

Well written summary of Elk Hunting with enough detail to answer all the basic questions. I am a senior hunter with some experience hunting North American big game. Bob Robb provides no BS guidelines of nearly all aspects of successfully going for Elk. Exceeded my expectations.

For those who want to really hunt elk, that is, getting off the ATV, and using real hunting skills, this is the best guide I've seen. I've been hunting and killing elk for 20 years in Arizona and Colorado and I learned new methods from this book. But make no mistake, this kind of hunting requires just what the author describes: "planning and hard work." The hunter who likes a cushy camp, an easy ride up the hill and the latest electronics will be disappointed.

It give you lots of useful information. It is especially helpful if you have never done a DIY elk hunt.

It contained clear information, no real "secrets", but several helpful pointers.

Elk hunting is complex in comparison to other game. The book provides a lot of information from reputable sources to create a toolbox for the task. Definite good read. It describes some aspects well enough that you may skip the hunt. Just reading the book may be enough...lol

Tonnes of great information in this book, not quite as good for a novice elk hunter as "Elk Hunting" by Jim Zumbo, but worth a look.

Good read it covers numerous strategies for elk.

I bought the book because I thought the author's name was funny.Also, It helped me learn to hunt elk "better".
