Russian Tutor: Grammar and Vocabulary Workbook (Learn Russian with Teach Yourself): Advanced beginner to upper intermediate course (Language Tutors)

It is true. This is not for the beginner, however. I happen to know German, and with some metaphors I had worked out a system for German grammar. I tried to "graft" it on to Russian when I was a Beginner....I was doing well until my "tutor" repealed my system and said it was all wrong. Now, he was a native speaker. Who was I to question? So, for several months, really, I was quite confused....until I bought this book. It turns out, my system was right! That includees ignoring little errors in endings, which natives will forgive becuase I'm not a native speaker,...obviously.I do endorse this book, however, as it fills a niche which I haven't found yet--the advanced beginner, who can tell wheat from chaff, so to speak. I have been through other beginner's books, and yet this is the one that got me over a serious difficulty to my learning progress.This is more than a "workbook". There are visual aids and other suggestions for learning that I have not seen elsewhere that I believe will be useful. I'm a psychologist, so all senses you can engage in your learning helps you learn more deeply and confidently. There are presently only 2 other reviews, and there should be more, because in my opinion this book delivers much more than promised!Heartily recommended!

This is a wonderful book for teaching yourself Russian Grammar and Vocabulary. Although please keep in mind, this is definitely for the intermediate level. I would strongly suggest completing the Penguin Russian Course before moving on into this course.

This is a great intermediate review and chance to learn Russian you perhaps should already have learned. This book has a few typos, but the authors have a good eye for distilling information that you need to know.

This is the best exercise book for learning Russian!

I bought this, because I saw some previews & liked the way that it emphasized the stressed syllables.My only complaint is that it starts with the cases, and their explanations are over before you know it... however... this book is not case focused & I really like it anyways (I don't feel guilty leaving five stars) -- I do think my Russian will get better by completing this.

In order to use this book you need, at the very least, a comprehensive knowledge of the Russian (Cyrillic) alphabet so definitely not a study book for beginners. Personally, I would assess it as A' level. Unfortunately I can't comment on any further use for it as I am a beginner and have found even the first page totally inaccessible - see pic. It will be years before I am at a standard to be able to even read the exercises and so, for me, it has been a complete waste of money.

Arrived ahead of schedule and in perfect state. A great book to improve your Russian grammar. However, it must be said that the reading parts can be slightly frustrating, as the vocabulary list does not include most of the new words introduced in the reading, so these parts can be quite challenging. Make sure you buy a dictionary or do these parts with a Russian speaker.

Really good for self study at home and refreshing/cementing points I should already know.

It is too advanced and very well of fashioned presentation

I thought this was supposed to be a beginner book. When received, it says “Advanced Beginner”. This is definitely not a beginner book. The first page jumps right into 6 tenses (nominative, genetive), which is advanced. Beginner to me is the alphabet, “hello, my name is”, & present tense of a few verbs. I specifically wanted lots of beginner exercises & review & this is not that.
