The ground-shaking impact of The Comic Strip's anarchic humour rattled the televisions of 1980s Britain, and when the smoke cleared they left a gaping crater that lesser comics are still failing into today. This 5-disc box set includes new episodes The Hunt for Tony Blair, Five Go To Rehab and Sex Actually plus the anniversary episode 30 Years of Comic Strip including hilarious new and previously unreleased footage, all of which are new to DVD. Also includes the best of the original Comic Strip Presents films: Bad News 1 and 2, Five Go Mad In Dorset, Fistful of Travellers Cheques, Strike, G.L.C., Gino, Susie, Mr Jolly Lives Next Door, Spaghetti Hoops, Red Nose of Courage, Bullshitters, Detectives on the Edge of a Nervous Breakdown, Gregory Diary of a Nutcase, The Crying Game, Four Men in a Car, Four Men in a Plane.

Great Comic Strip satire
‘Strike’ and ‘GLC’ are classics of political, social and media satire to rank with Enfield and Whitehouse’s ‘Smashey and Nicey’ spoof DJs. I’m only sorry that ‘Argy Bargy’ was not included in the Comic Strip collection - presumably for political reasons.

At last! I can complete my collection!
Being a Rik Mayall fan all my life - well, since I was 3 - I have collected everything he has ever done. The more I can get on official release the better and this official release is extremely welcome. The newer episodes of the Comic Strip films are on this DVD set and they are excellent. There is even the documentary celebrating 30 years of the Comic Strip films included and this set is worth purchasing for that show alone. Some of the old characters like Den and Spider from Bad News are re-introduced to us all again in a very funny way.Yes, it's a bit sad that the newer episodes were not just released on their own, but this set will introduce people to some of the other older Comic Strip films if they have not seen them before and hopefully this will inspire them to locate and purchase the previous DVD box set of the films.Peter Richardson is a modern day genius, in my eyes, and he doesn't get the credit he deserves. Hopefully more people will buy this and spread the word about what proper comedy and satire is really all about.

Iconic 80's Comedy
A decent collection of the 80's comic strip presents series! Living in hope that they re-release the full collection again in the near future.

Peter Richardson is a mad genius!
Since the first episode way back in 1982, I have been obsessive about The Comic Strip. Many, many VHS tapes recorded from C4 & BBC2 of all the episodes. So a few years ago the box set with every episode was bought and watched with relish. Some have episodes have fared better than others but each and everyone is unique.I chanced upon this collection and couldn't believe it contained the newer episodes. For £12 it was worth having for Sex Actually (which isn't brilliant), The Hunt for Tony Blair (which is) and the back to where it all started Five Go To Rehab. Now to wait for Red Top to come out......

Bad news for Bad News
The various titles offered are a pretty good choice and yes there are the episodes that came after the last box set but the Bad News pair have been edited together - and then subjected to several cuts that ruin the flow and timing of the stories. Really - it's a bloody crime that someone was let loose with a copy of Premiere and told to rip out so many minutes presumably so it would all fit on the disc. Consider the track listing as it is but forget about the Bad News elements because they've been amateurishly butchered, ruining the experience.Still, it does have Fistful and Mr Jolly too so it's not all doom & gloom.

Was it ever better?
Seriously, which Brits were funnier, more varied as writers and performers? Quality always onsistent. Most comics come and go. They're still around. Rik Mayalls legacy will endure, fashion will revolve back, can't wait.
