does exactly what I bought it for
The instructions are good enough to get you started. The menu button on the top allows you to toggle through the varioussettings. Pressing once and then use either the left or right zoombuttons next to the menu button you set the display for the mode youneed. It also can check continuity for Cat 5 and 6 cable but this isn'treally explained well. To use that feature connect one end of thenetwork cable to the tester and the other end of that same cable to thetermination dongle provided (the one that came in my box was grey). Oncethe cable is connected up, press the menu button multiple times untilyou get the net cable test display at the bottom of the screen (for methis is three presses from the TVI display setting). When you get thecable test screen display on the bottom of the screen you will see a rowof numbers 1-8 followed either by a "V" or an "X". The display willonly show for about 3-4 seconds but it will indicate if there are anybreaks in the lines. Breaks will be indicated by the "X" after that linenumber. If all your line numbers have a "V" after them your cable has nobreaks. The batteries seem to last a decent amount of time. There arefour LED's on the front face. These LED's are not marked but areexplained in the directions (power, charge, power out, date). Once youknow what they mean there is no issue, but it would be nice if they werelabeled on the display bezel, however this is a minor issue tofunctionality. The wrist strap is wide and the unit mounts comfortablyon my wrist, and I have large wrists. Since it is self powered it makesinstalling and aiming cameras considerably easier, especially when up ona ladder. The resolution is adequate for this purpose. Overall, this isa general purpose tool and works well as designed. So far I have had noissues with it.

Absolute necessity for Quality CCTV installations.
The tester works pretty good especially for the price standpoint. Anyone installing their own CCTV system would be foolish not to have one of these it helps with pointing the camera so you don't end up climbing the ladder a thousand times also with adjustable lenses it's an absolute necessity. This products good enough for field installers of CCTV equipment and easy enough to use for a homeowner or business owner. The seller of this product contacted me before it was even shipped and told me if I had any questions feel free to contact them which was the first time anyone on Amazon has done that, really awesome to have support if I needed it which I didn't. Awesome product back by a really good seller.

Broke within 6 months
When it works, it is very convenient. I turned it on today to set up a camera and the screen turned on, then had black bars appear, then it blanked out. Now the 12v light comes on even if I'm not powering a camera, but the screen never turns on. I've charged it, removed the battery and reinstalled, but nothing works. Unless I just got a dud, I'd recommend finding a better device.

Worked like a charm
The unit does look cheapish but consider the rela-tively low cost. Remove the plastic isolation tab from the battery (BTW the battery is a common type, nice touch!) connect the charger and chargeit up (it took 1.5hrs. until the red charging led extinguished) remove the plastic film from the pro-tective clear plastic screen protector and repositionit in the screen center and voila you're in business.Works just as claimed. I used it to test some sparecvbs and ahd cams and it worked without any issues at all. My only doubt is whether or not the unit could work for the time they claimed it wouldon one battery charge cycle. After testing six cams,I reconnected the charger and it charged for almost an hour before the charging led went out.Later on tested several more cams and it took almost two hours to recharge. No problem, like one reviewer stated, just get more batteries and aseperate charger, their not that expensive at all.Bottom line, I like it, it worked for what I boughtit for, and that's my opinion.

Great value for price! But there was some issues!
I like this product because it allows me to adjust a camera without having to waste time, running back and forth to a T.v. monitor, to make sure it is positioned correctly. You can adjust a camera's image if it has a varifocal lens and see if you need to zoom in or out based on what your trying to observe. Now for the inaccuracies that Ive noticed! In the product description it states that the Battery work time is 11 hours, but in the Specification section it states that its Battery work time is 7 hours, so which one is it? Another thing that I noticed.. When I fully charge the device, the Battery icon will display fully charged, then within 2-3mins the Battery icon will lose a bar.. Why?The device was just fully charged and not in use, just powered on and even if it was in use and your supposed to receive 11 hours work time, why would it be losing a bar of energy within 2-3 minutes of disconnecting from its charger??This was my first unit, and with my first unit I had received a faulty product, and I realized that when i connected the Bnc wire to the unit and began experiencing horizontal lines and vertical across the screen, which was making it impossible to properly use the unit. I contacted customer service, who tried to figure out why the unit was giving me the issue, eventually they just sent me another one as an exchange. One thing I must say, and that is the customer service was extremely helpful with sending me another device out very quickly and it was the same day.Now with the second unit.. I tested it out and the video screen did not have the unwanted lines. But what I noticed so far is that again, upon disconnecting the device from its charger, within 2-3 mins while its powered on and not in use it would lose a bar of energy. That seems to be a consistent issue with both devices I receive. Now im going to time how much battery life I actually get from it being just in standby mode.
