I got this for an 8 year old who is interested in building and engineering. This kit comes with everything you need (except batteries) to build a number of different contraptions. There are instructions online including youtube videos that you can follow to put everything together. It is easy enough for a child and parent to follow along and complete with confidence. We like this enough that we are looking into getting other sets as well.

Super neat Bioed Robot STEM kit for kids. My son 9yo) put together in about an hour to hour and half by himself. He needed adult assistance with the coding but an older teen with coding experience would do well with this! A lot of fun, easy to put together (if your kid can do a complicated Lego-type kit they’ll do fine with this). Small pieces so keep that in mind! Durable and long lasting. Very giftable for an engineer-minded kid. Excellent for creative and logical thinking. Robot is very responsive and works well!

Overall a pretty cool kit. I probably would have given it 5 stars if not for the fact that they opted for a special type of battery rather than the more common AA or AAA. Fortunately I already had some I ordered to use one of their other kits, but I expect that most people won’t have them on hand, meaning an additional purchase they’ll have to make.

This ESP32 Smart Car kit is a fantastic way to learn about robotics and programming. The kit comes with everything you need to build a smart car, including the ESP32 development board, motors, wheels, sensors, and a chassis. The included instructions are clear and easy to follow, and the Arduino IDE compatibility makes programming the car straightforward. The multi-way cruise, obstacle avoidance, and IR app control features provide hours of fun and experimentation. A great educational tool for kids, teens, and adults alike.

My son loves the science "crate" kits out there but is getting to be on the older side so I grabbed this thinking it would be a nice step up. It is! The set is recommended or ages 8-16 but could easily be used by even older people who are just interested. The kit includes a programming guide. It comes with extensive learning resources, including 16 story-based tutorials, coding files, and an assembly guide. And, it has wi-fi so can be controlled with a smartphone. It does not have batteries and does need them. Definitely assembly required - but that's kind of the point - and there is a lot of help to make sure you're successful. Aside from the instructions there is a video on you tube.

This kit uses cheap parts that look like they came out of a 3d printer. The instructions are non-existent. I spent over an hour trying to find the instructions and then it was a battle to find the code. It also requires special additions to your Arduino IDE to make it work. I managed to get through all of that only to find that it doesn't work! I calibrated the unit and then it won't stand, walk anything. I am fairly computer savvy and have assembled several Arduino projects (I even designed a few) and I still found this to be way harder than it should be. I have reached out to customer service to see if they can help me get this working but, I completely expect to be returning this. I feel like this is a neat idea that was very poorly executed

This Biped robot STEM kit is great for adults interested in building things and learning a bit of coding, and kids with an interest in robotics, have the dexterity to work with very small pieces and tools and the patience to go through the tutorials will be able to do this too. For $90 it is pretty good value considering the number of hours it will keep someone occupied when doing the project. The thing I always worry about with these types of packs is the instructions. It links you to the public Acebott website which has long detailed instructions for the build and coding aspects of this project, so I need not have had concerns about whether the directions would be sufficient, because they're detailed and easy to follow.
