This item simply does not work. It was a waste of time and money. I should have known as it was the cheapest optical splitter I found on Amazon. Came in a plain ziplock plastic bag thrown into the box for another item with no instructions or even anything such as a name brand and phone number. Nothing is printed on the item either. The female end is some cheap looking yellow plastic, no gold as in the description! Also, the ports on the other end do not have one rounded side as most optical ports I have seen. Standard optical cables fit in the ports but both sides of the ports are squared off. Very weird. Took it out of the bag and plugged it in multple times and no sound or video came through. TV to sound bar, nothing. Then I added the headphones thinking maybe it requires both output ports to be used at the same time. Still nothing. Now I need to return it and order a more expensive splitter.

This should work fine but I haven't actually tested it with two destinations for the fiber optics, so I can't confirm that it works. I found another solution for what I needed specifically and will keep this to try out if I ever have need of a splitter.(It turns out I needed both an HDMI switch and an HDMI to TOSLINK audio extractor box and found one that combines both functions. I now have my ROKU and my Blu-ray player feeding HDMI video to the TV and TOSLINK audio to the sound bar system.)
