Rainpoint 2 zone wifi smaer hub water controller
I bought this to set up a wi-fi watering system for my summer camp. I had used other devices before but wanted an app based setup that i could monitor and contrtol when not there. THis system is fantastuc and a great value for the money. The snart hub was easy to set up and connected to my wifi network without any issue. I had some navigagtion problems when pairing the system and called them for assistance.Theiri cistomer service is one of the best as I was able to get a knowledgeable person without a long wait and they walked me through the set up and pairing process. It was a bteeze after that. I have been usung this system all season and it has worked flawlwessly. I get a notice on my phone after each watering cycle so I iknow it has completed when I am not there. Easy to make adjustments or pause watering. Would be nice if they added a weather connection like Rachio does for their large irrigation control systems, so it could cancel watering whern there is rain. . Maybe that can be added in the future as a SW update. Love the 5- year warranty and the overall valve construction - good quality. What is most impressive is that I had a problem trying to pair a third system and learned that the Green systems are no compatible with the Yellow ones as the former is for commercial applications and has its own app. THe Customer service folks sent me a free 2 zone controlller on their own even thogh I made the purchase mistake. Thiis is truly outstanding support and servicve and was way more than I would ever have asked for or expected. I am very satisfied with the company, their products and the dedicated and committed team there.

Perfect for raised beds and soaker hoses
Let me start by saying I have the Rainpoint sprinkler timer, too. It uses the same app, which is convenient. The strange thing is that the app is a little better for this water timer than for the sprinkler timer. Set-up is easy. There's step-by-step instructions to follow. Install the app on your phone and create a log in. Then plug in the WiFi hub. The hub will start blinking and you use the app to connect a new device, choose the hub (everything is represented graphically, so you choose the item that looks like the hub), enter your 2-g Wi-Fi password, and blam-o, it connects. Then put batteries into the water timer and repeat the process. The app automatically connects the water timer to the Wi-Fi hub. Now you're set to start watering. My hose spigot is already pretty crowded. I have a 1-4 expander, so I have hoses that go to the driveway, the backyard hose reel, the soaker hose, and the raised garden bed. Because of this setup, I did not want to hang the somewhat heavy water timer from the expander, so I made a short piece of hose so I could mount the water timer somewhere unobtrusively. Connecting the hoses to the water timer is much as you'd expect. Hand tighten, watch your threads, and use the provided Teflon tape. Before I connected my outlet hoses, I tested the on-off of the water timer, both manually and on the app. This also helped me look for leaks. Because nothing is a manual switch, both the manual buttons and the app have a slight delay to open and close the water, but it isn't more than a few seconds. Then I connected the outlet hoses and tested it again. Good to go! Much like the sprinkler timer, you can go into the app and set up a schedule for the water timer to run. You can set start time (and end time), days to water, and whether you want a rain delay of 24, 48, or 72 hours. You can set up to 3 schedules for each side. If you'd prefer, rather than an end time, you can choose a water amount. Once it reaches the specified output, it'll shut off. I never tested for accuracy, because I'm used to turning on the hose for the garden and setting a timer for 30 minutes, so that's what I did here. The rain delay is a mixed blessing. If the app receives a weather forecast where rain has or is falling, it won't run for the set time. Usually, this is great, but sometimes we might have a forcast of rain and nothing reaches the ground, but the app doesn't know. When the rain delay is on, it will also prevent you from turning on the hose manually. Fortunately, you can turn off the rain delay temporarily, but I think there should simply be a rain delay over-ride. The sprinkler controller is the same way. I get alerts--zone 1 has started. Zone 1 has finished. I like these alerts because with set-and-forget things if it stops working I might not realize until my garden looks dry. Here's what's odd to me: The sprinkler controller (the same app) doesn't notify me when my sprinklers are running! One bonus that I was not expecting: The Wi-Fi hub has an outlet on it. I thought that was nice, so it doesn't take up an outlet. But no, it's better: It's a smart outlet. Plug a light or something into the Wi-Fi hub and control it remotely! You can even set up a timer in the app (not as good as the water timer). The app is not the most user-friendly, and what I mean by that is I didn't pick it up and immediately intuit how to use it. It took me a few minutes. It feels strange to navigate, the first page is all your devices. In my case, that's the Wi-Fi hub, the Wi-Fi hub outlet, the water timer, and the sprinkler timer. Click the Wi-Fi hub and the devices connected to it are presented. Clicking on them here is the same as clicking on them on the prior screen. There are four menu icons on the bottom: Parameter: Shows the two zones, how much water the prior run used (no history beyond last run), battery status (the outdoor timer takes 4 AA's), and the next scheduled run. Manual: Set a run-time up to 60 minutes and turn the zone(s) on. I do like that there's not an option to run forever. Plan: Set up Plan A, B, C for each zone (total 6 plans). Turn plans on or off. So you could have a cool-weather plan, a warm weather plan, and a heat wave plan. Set the Rain delay. This is also where you turn off the rain delay to manually override it. Sensor: The Wi-Fi hub can connect to several soil sensors (I don't have one), so you can see if you need to water or not. I don't know if there's a way to have the soil sensor trigger a run. I doubt it, but it would be awesome. Also, you can see your historic water usage here for the past 10 days. My: Instructions and Contact, as well as where you can connect the water timer to Alexa or Google Assistant. I have not done this. The Wi-Fi hub can connect to other items, so you could add additional water timers and soil meters. I think if you don't have an in-ground sprinkler, this would be a great way of using sprinklers and hoses to replicate that setup. Have a pool and add water in the hot months, I can think of many uses for a bunch of these devices, and Rainpoint seems to have a lot available. Overall, I really like this product a lot. I used to water my gardens manually and the manual timer I had would sometimes stick or I'd forget to turn the water off. Having a simple to use app to control it simplifies things a lot. The only gripes I have: I'd like the rain delay to be easier to override. I'd like the sprinkler controller to send notifications like the water timer. But I wouldn't take away a star because it's not significant enough of an issue.

Great device, great customer support; what's not to like?
I couldn't be happier with the product. The Wifi was easy to setup and I had zero issues connecting to the device and working the app. It works as advertised and makes operating and/or automating a sprinkler very simple. On top of that, product support is fantastic. The company stands behind their product, is quick to answer questions, and will help work out any issue a customer may have. Highly recommended!

Great for Travelers with Gardens โ Just a Few Glitches
I waited until the end of summer to write this review, and I can confidently say that RainPoint has been a game-changer for me. I have a large backyard with many plants and trees, and since I travel frequently, I needed a reliable way to keep everything watered in my absence. RainPoint provided the perfect solution. The mobile app is a standout featureโvery user-friendly and convenient for remote control. Installation was quick and straightforward, making the whole setup process hassle-free. For frequent travelers like me, this system is absolutely worth it. One feature I really appreciate is the rain delay function, which allows the system to skip watering cycles when it detects rain. This is especially useful in areas with rainy summers, helping to prevent overwatering and save on water bills. However, I believe this feature could be improved for better accuracy and customization. That said, there are a couple of downsides to note. The mobile app occasionally glitches, which can be frustrating when trying to make quick adjustments. Additionally, the hub socket didnโt work so you loose one electricity outlet for it, not a big deal but it would have been cool if it was actually working. Despite these minor issues, I still highly recommend RainPoint for anyone looking for a smart, convenient way to manage their gardenโespecially if youโre often away from home.

Great Irrigation Timer Great Customer Service
I've purchased two of these rainpoint wifi water timers now and four of the soil sensors to go along with them.. This is an outstanding irrigation system.. You can feel the quality of the product the second that you take the timer out of the box.. It feels solid in your hands and the fit and finish looks flawless.. It's very simple to install the system and connect it to your network.. Programing the timer is very intuitive and hassle free thanks to the user friendly interface of the mobile app.. This product does everything rainpoint says it will do and them some.. I've been gardening my entire life and it's always been a hassle trying to keep track of when to water what.. I no longer have to worry about that thanks to the rainpoint irrigation system.. Now I can see the real time status of and control each watering valve from anywhere with an internet connection.. The app charts water usage so you can look and see exactly how much water got used when.. The first timer that I ordered had a slight malfunction when I hooked it up to the soil sensors.. It would randomly turn on and off sometimes when it should have been idle.. I contacted customer support and they were amazing.. They responded quickly and helped me troubleshoot the problem.. We had more than a dozen correspondences over the course of a week or so.. When we couldn't get the issue resolved they shipped me out a brand new timer and I received it the very next day.. I can't speak highly enough about the customer support I received.. The whole team at rainpoint was great.. The second timer that I purchased, and the new timer rainpoint sent to replace the faulty timer.. Have both functioned flawlessly.. I highly recommend this product..

Simple and effective Wifi Timer!
So, this timer is great! At the spigot, itโs dead simple. It is programmed through the app. I like this over the other timers where you program at the spigot, since it avoids the kneeling adjacent to the spigot, etc. Much easier to program from the phone. On the manual side of things, there are two buttons, one for each timer. If you hit the button, itโll turn on for a pre-determined amount of time that is programmed into the app initially. You can go back and change it, but itโll always hold the last time programmed. If you want to turn it off, hit the button again. Really easy, and way better than the other timers where there is a complicated interface just to get manual control. Once other thing that is nice, is that in addition to hitting the button, you can active the spigot remotely. This is nice if you have your hose set up prior to a vacation, and you want to activate it remotely. You can also see if the spigot is one or off remotely as well which I like. On the automatic watering, it just works. You program it in the app, and then it does its thing. The app can has a rain delay option, which is nice to use if you are away on vacation or something and you know it rained. I do like that I get a notification when it starts and stops. I think the messaging in the notification for the app could be simpler, but once you get used to it, itโs fine. Lastly - I did need to contact customer service to have the original one replaced two years after the initial purchase. The customer service was accommodating and responsive and honored the 5 year warranty. In my opinion, anyoneโs products can take a hit due to manufacturing, but itโs all in the response by support, and their customer support was top notch! No issues with the replacement unit.

Works well when it does, and customer service is amazing when we need them the most
Bought this in 2024 - here is my updated review Works well during the first spring and summer months seamless use with app, maintained connection with hub. The unit was kept in garage until next spring, but when its time to use it again, the unit leaked from various seams in the device. Reached out to support and they shipped a replacement immediately after I showed them a video of the issues. The new unit works well again for the next spring and summer months. Packed it up for winter and when 2026 spring arrives, this new unit leaked through the seams again. I am suspecting the hard water sitting inside through winter months caused sediments to wreak havoc inside? Regardless, I reached out again to support and they again shipped out a replacement unit after seeing the new video of the leaks. Loved the unit. Didnt like the leak issues after each winter, however, amazing support make it very difficult to hate it. It works very well when it does, and hope customer service keeps up their great work when we need them!

Could not get it to connect to either my phone or my WiFi. New version seems to work as advertized.
Tried everything I could find on the Internet, but couldn't get it to connect to anything. Very disappointing. Update 8/19/2024: It turns out that Rainpoint has an updated version of their products. Here's the new version: https://www.amazon.com/RAINPOINT-WiFi-Water-Timer-Garden/dp/B0BRKLZP37/ref=sr_1_33?crid=2R2BBT367MAMU&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.4i9b8QJM9eXVTfLqdTZfxCG3kil0V_P3SkaxeQPS8ftb7k53ggRaIVsrnNee4Cdwi7_h-ArCHRM8XmmHwzIvjxIPKgDLwZH01GCkvSxF8PLa0kCyqh4fbLjUjOYeBN2DDy0LX_gp9TY43Z2Uw2AyxK0R4AkF_5bk6Kp1fJL7s03fwdLJYlFN0dDb1UCrHOJxmInOkBlmTx-JUgPYJaH7DiO4nQBz72c05I8vlBP4KNAUvRTqk7kFkzALCow0s0G1MVDKjVcwBLg9pbRv8VT6-rgZAQckpQvm3BJilpSlUiY.qS6clbhGGbk91OdM-3K3-r_WFWAJS1tRBHWn9r19u6M&dib_tag=se&keywords=Rainpoint&qid=1724064511&sprefix=rainpoint%2Caps%2C198&sr=8-33 The new moisture sensor: https://www.amazon.com/RAINPOINT-Moisture-Temperature-Reliable-Wireless/dp/B0BRKBW7FK/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2HCYUDAMCXTZQ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.yf8m1a6XCksmH8IY4kXFKBkkS8WXtbhofy5kI4kmHlicLZXxy6C8M3G-LYdYRoONVtKAJIepcKWuOeNRz3pfSXfETAoXgB56ow8XopP9Lh-gq3x5n4ESvPTS7Fp67kaJzhLcncC4X9QiUeURGt8xlN0XWFlKJX3yrKxML9dL46liVcoFyvjAfGUy1J25EWy0iuiWhPqOUKJgoEfarworNUHKR2BOMfKxnRjQ44X3vvo2b9KT9DKy2tzokoQXuH8-ctLpF3UDRO_UEorTnpus24lCRqiTKtnifM3U692_O-0.tTUYs52SshuIs0Y5k6xzBnaPK4_51le_okW1U1qxq08&dib_tag=se&keywords=rainpoint+moisture+sensor&qid=1724064634&sprefix=Rainpoint+mois%2Caps%2C144&sr=8-3 The only difference I can find in the descriptions and graphics on Amazon, and indeed in the materials shipped with their products, is the color, the fact that the old controller has a brass input connector instead of plastic one on the new version, and the fact that the new version works with the Homgar app. The Homgar app is an open source project housed on GitHub, and appears to be inactive โ which is a bit of a worry for future functionality when a future iOS upgrade breaks the app. The company's prompt response consisting of sending me the new version of the hub, controller, and temperature/humidity sensor, has compelled me to write this update. I've had the new version of these three components for a few weeks now, and they work as advertised. The Homgar app is reasonably intuitive to use and has many nice features, including graphs of water volume, temperature, and soil moisture content over time. Therefore, I am revising my original one-star rating to four-stars. I would likely raise this rating to a full five star rating, but for a few issues: (1) greater distinction should be made between the old (yellow-colored) version so that customers will know the difference. (2) Why downgrade the brass fixture to plastic? The old version touts the brass input connector, but this has disappeared from the new version. We know that brass is stronger than plastic, so the principal justification for this move must be production cost. I actually don't think this is a big deal because most competitive units use only plastic, and I've had them last for many years and eventually fail for different reasons. (3) As a long-time minor open source contributor, I worry about the viability of the Homgar app in the future. I suggest that the company contribute to this app to ensure its long-term viability, or fork it to customize for their own hardware โ if they've not already done so. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the new version, and will try to remember to update this review over time!

Fantastic product so far! App is simple and intuitive. Timer easily connects to the hub. Will make watering my garden a set and forget process! And the 5 year warranty when registered can't be beat!

Watering system
I am very happy with this purchase, very easy to install, works great, and I order another one. I went through several units and this one deliver exactly what I was looking for. I can control my watering from any part of country. I highly recommend this product.

Poor Quality Fitting
Very disappointed with the quality of this fitting. The plastic connector sheared off when I lightly tugged on my gardenhose during normal use. This is a part that experiences regular handling and should be durable enough to withstand minor movement without failing. The fitting would have been much more reliable if it were made of brass instead of plastic. Now the product is unusable and requires replacement. I would not recommend this version unless the manufacturer upgrades the fitting material to brass or another robust metal.

Easy enough to setup, 4x AA batteries not included
It was easy enough to connect and setup after reading the instruction manual. The app is not necessarily structured intuitively enough to figure it out without the manual. Also, it would habe been nice if the four required AA batteries were included. I had to run to the store and buy some to continue the setup.
