Exact Replacement with matching HP part numbers !
This kit is the HP replacement for the supplied accessories included in certain HP laptop computers. I have multiple HP's which came with these components and I was looking to duplicate them to use on an older Compaq laptop (HP owns Compaq). EXACT REPLACEMENT !I bought 4 of them.We use them to receive local channels on 3 TVs (We severed cable, and use Netflix,Hulu,etc.).DO NOT BUY THE TUNER CARD SEPARATE ! Buy the kit...it's less money and includes the card and everything required ! !The shipper is aces and dealt with My issue of the shipping charges of 4 kits being billed separately when they were shipped in one package ( I was refunded the balance the next day with communication through e-mail ! ! ! ).We purchased USB Tuner ExpressCard adapters (Amtron Technology,Inc. part #USBEXP54B) to use on Our non-HP laptops and they work great. With this kit, Netflix and Hulu , We pay $19.00 a month to watch what we used to pay cable $110.00 a month for ! !We watch what cable/satellite subscribers watch...the difference being....We have a fatter wallet ! (dances off with a evil laugh).

Great little card for Windows Media Center
This is old hardware, but OTA digital broadcast hasn't changed at all. For the price, it makes a cheap "smart tv" when paired with an aging laptop that has the then-popular expresscard interface which is much more powerful than any smart TV could ever hope of being.Supports 1080i broadcast, and even comes with a fancy remote. I wouldn't recommend using the included batteries for long though, they've long since expired. It has a small antenna, but if you need a better signal, an adapter is included for a standard F connector from an antenna. The technical knowledge needed for install/setup is very little; if you have a laptop with the expresscard slot, you're good to go. I've been using it for about a month and have had no problems with this unit. It's being used in conjunction with a Windows 7 Acer laptop and a 720p projector for huge-screen viewing.

OTA tuner for HP laptops
Works with HP laptops okay and like everyone else noticed - they get pretty hot after a short time in use. Pretty much a Happuange if you look at that site.I used a small "digital" flat antenna (about 6 inches square) and it picked up okay compared to a much larger non-digital antenna I use.

Great Price, It will only work on my Hp and Does nothing on the Dell. Gets very Warm. You get a lot of very good extras. For example the ir unit and remote control are top quality

Not a reliable design
Be prepared to order more than one of these kits. The first one I received failed after 1.5 days. Since the kit was so cheaplypriced, it was not worth the shipping to send back. I ordered another one because I liked it and then contacted the seller aboutsending a replacement card with the second order. The second kit arrived without a replacement for the first defective card. Thesecond card is still working after about 3 weeks of use. I am willing to rewrite this review if the seller - Laptop Parts, Inc. has a change of heart.
