PCCables.com USB to Mini Centronics Cable, 5 ft.

Newer devices no longer have printer ports. I've used my HP LaserJet 1100 for over a decade. No silly toner chips needed to lock you into using only manufacturer toner. This cable and a raspberry pi made it wireless and now it's ready for another decade.

I first tried adding a parallel port interface card to my Windows 10 computer but Windows 10, while it found the card, would not interface with my laser printer. I then ordered this cable switching to a USB connection and the printer works.

followed these instructions from PCCables.com.Step 1 Install Drivers for your Printer model. Step 2 Point Port to USBLPT.unit will not print. shows error message in the queue.it Does work with a direct parallel cable connection in win7 so we know it's not the printer.

I bought this to connect my old HP Laserjet 1100 to my Linux computer (Linux Mint 21.1). Of course my newer computer doesn't have a parallel port so I can't use my old cable. I ordered this the other day to try it out. It arrived today and I connected it to my printer and computer. My printer was instantly recognized and only needed some minor adjustments for print quality and the like. It took me longer to get the cable out of the packaging than it did to use it!! It works perfectly. Thanks PCCables.com for the easy solution to make my printer last another decade. Almost all the other USB cables are standard sized Centronics connectors and not mini sized. Chances are, you need this mini Centronics cable for your printer and not the standard Centronics cable most others supply.

When ordering a USB to Centronics cable, be sure to know whether you need a "standard" or "mini" Centronics connector. It makes a huge difference. Most cable companies fail to differentiate the difference between the "standard" connector and the "mini" connector, and unfortunately the "mini" is not well described. I needed the "mini" connector for an old HP printer and after getting the wrong connector locally, I researched further, and finally called PCCables and talked with a young man in customer service who was extremely helpful to me in determining my needs (who knew there was more than one type of Centronics - not me). In any event, I placed my order for the correct cable which works perfectly. The price was reasonable, and the order arrived before expected. I will do business with PCCables again in the future if the need arrives.

Bought this because my current PC doesn't have a standard Printer port anymore, Plugged this into my LaserJet 1100, and Viola!

Literally brought our old HP LaserJet 1100 back from the dead since they don't make computers with parallel ports anymore. Excellent buy.
