Review: Absolutely the Best Bluetooth Speaker I've Ever Owned! - I've owned both the JBL Charge 4 and the JBL Xtreme 2, and after spending time with the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus (140W), I can honestly say it's the best portable Bluetooth speaker I've ever purchased. The difference is noticeable from the first song. The Boom 2 Plus delivers deeper, more powerful bass, cleaner vocals, and much better overall clarity, even at high volumes. It gets significantly louder than both of my JBL speakers while maintaining impressive sound quality with very little distortion. The customizable EQ in the Soundcore app lets you fine-tune the sound exactly the way you like it, making it even more enjoyable. Battery life has been excellent, the Bluetooth connection is rock solid, and the build quality feels premium. I also love the LED lighting effects they're a nice touch without being over the top. Compared to my JBL Charge 4 and JBL Xtreme 2, the Boom 2 Plus simply offers more power, stronger bass, better sound customization, and better value for the money. It feels like a speaker in a completely different league. If you're on the fence, don't hesitate. This speaker exceeded all my expectations, and I would buy it again without thinking twice. Highly recommended!
Review: Very good for its price-point - First, a couple of qualifiers: My five-star review is heavily influenced by how much this costs and how impressed I am with it as a stand-alone unit. This is not necessarily a five-star product compared to other products that cost hundreds of dollars more than this, or are competing in otherwise entirely separate classes or categories. This is a five-star review of a $170 (at the time of purchase) boombox. You may be cross-shopping this with other products that cost more, or are otherwise higher-end or competing in different spaces, and I'm not attempting to suggest this is as good as, better, or worse than those. If I'm comparing to anything else, I'll note that in my review. Some background: I exist almost entirely in the JBL ecosystem. I have a JBL Xtreme, and a couple of JBL Charge speakers of differing generations. I've never not been happy with my JBL products, but I just spent a long weekend at a cabin with friends and took my JBL Xtreme speaker as portable sound. Not a complaint, necessarily, about the Xtreme, but when we got home and I was moving things around, it slipped out of my hand and landed on the tile floor, breaking some of the trim. Entirely cosmetic, but I decided I needed something more purpose designed for moving around, i.e. something with a handle. My immediate instinct was to look at the JBL Boombox. But wow is it expensive. I've dabbled in Anker/Soundcloud products before, and as much as I've wanted to love them, I just haven't. Most of them have been returned, because of audio issues, connectivity issues, or just general quality of construction problems. But this kept popping up in my searches, and people seemed to be happy with it. I figured maybe they've finally hit the mark. And at $80 less than listing price, I figured it was a pretty low risk gamble. I've been pretty happy so far with it. It's solid and feels sturdy. The sound quality, especially after you give it some time to break in, feels like it punches well above its weight. With the Bass-up feature turned on, it's very bassy, but not like Beats by Dre bass. It doesn't make the sound muddy. Just punchy. Compared to the JBL Xtreme, it definitely doesn't feel as high-end of construction. But it feels well put together. Some more premium materials-- like rubberized instead of hard plastics-- would be nice, but they probably don't affect the overall experience. One thing I will note is that the JBL sounds better inside, but the Soundcore sounds better outside. The JBL needs walls for its optimal sound. The Soundcore doesn't seem to rely as heavily on them. I can't compare it to the JBL Boombox, but that's also a lot more expensive, so I don't feel like that's a fair comparison. The custom EQ settings are fine, but I think it's fine using Soundcore's "signature" EQ setting for most music. The lights are fun, but I ultimately turned them off for battery longevity. I've not tested the water resistance, and don't plan to, but I'll trust them on their rating. I can't comment on the Auracast, as of now, but the party-mode from JBL has been pretty disappointing, so if it's at least as good as that, it's fine. Overall, this is exactly what I want for exactly what I need: a portable speaker for picnics, beach, cabin, etc. It's much louder than it deserves to be. At home, I've kept the outdoor volume around 40% to not annoy the neighbors. It's not the nicest, or most impressive, or sexiest rig out there. But I can confidently say it's a solid entry in the relatively inexpensive portable boombox market.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loud and clear
*by E***K on August 4, 2026*

This thing slams! We had a small Sonos Roam and that was OK for light usage or to take paddle boarding’s . I’m currently listening to ADTR at 1/4 to 1/3 the max volume and it’s crazy loud. The higher wattage version was absolutely worth the few extra dollars. It’s heavy but that’s somewhat expected with the larger electronics and speaker magnets. The front speakers handle the mids and highs while the sides handle the lows. The app is great and I had already been using it with the Space ONE headphones, so it was very easy to add and adjust settings. I can’t imagine using this without the bass boost and a custom EQ, so it’s great those features are included and easy to use. One big negative is the bluetooth connectivity is almost too good. It would automatically pair my phone and my wife’s phone regardless of who turned it on or who wanted to connect. There is a setting in the app that allows for dual connections, you just need to turn that off and it should make it bearable. It was really annoying. The lighting is OK. It’s not something I wanted or needed with a speaker but it’s easy enough to disable.
