The only thing that works for me
I used to use the natrol 1mg time release but since they discontinued it I have been searching for months to find a replacement. This is exactly the perfect replacement. No grogginess, inconsistent sleep, or nightmares. Slow activation so it feels more natural. My advice is to not use anything else like magnesium while using this or it can leave you sluggish in the morning. It's perfect on its own.

Low dosage is good, works well for me
I've been taking these, earlier the 300 mcg, to help keep me at a deeper sleep. Long term problem, physician involved, etc. I've found this brand to be the best. I like the very small <1mg dosage, which my doctor said was good (least amount that works is best). And he is okay with my long-term use under 3mg. For me, low dose melatonin doesn't knock me out or make me sleep like a narcotic, but it keeps me groggier so that when I wake up (often many times a night) I am not wide awake, thinking, but more "not caring" and therefore more easy to fall back to sleep. I thought maybe the 300 mcg was not working as well so went with the 700, but I plan to retry the 300 again when I run out. There are other factors (comfort - time of year, house temperature, noise, animals, etc.). Stronger melatonin will give me a totally awful sleep and headaches, but not at 300-700 mcg and I think the timed release helps. There's much more to the story - never more than once a week 5 mg Ambien, occasionally a cup of coffee on down days (helps with depression, I'm decaf normally, again the headaches)... It's working for me.

Good product and good price
Life Extension was one of the first researchers and promoters of melatonin. Nothing here is medical advice, but I will tell you my experience.I have been using melatonin off and on for 30 years, and I have found that while some people need three or even 10 mg for it to help them, others like myself need a very small dose like this 750 micrograms. If I take too much it gives me nightmares really bad.Nightmares is a common complaint that people have when taking melatonin, but for me it is dependent on the dose.Life extension makes good products and this is one of their better products, and you can buy it in various dosages. If you've never tried melatonin this might be a good product to start with. You can take more capsules as needed of this supplement.

Works best when taken with food.
Despite being a time-release formula, there is enough of an early spike to cause some side effects, which manifested as a tingling/crawling sensation in my head and legs. When I started taking the tablet with a Fun Size Snickers bar, the side effects diminished, due to the food blunting that early spike. Besides that, it seems to work well. I feel more refreshed and energized during the day, likely due to improved sleep quality. I plan to try the 300 mcg time-release tablet next to see if I get the same benefits without having to take it with food.
