I use dewalt branded 5AH batteries and get almost double the battery life of the original battery when it was new. Upon pulling the trigger a green light appears and the vacuum powers up, until the battery is almost depleted in which case the led turns red letting you know when to change the battery (you can still use the battery life indicator on the battery itself). One thing to note is that the original battery had a reed switch so that when the dustbin was open it wouldnt let the motor run, this adapter doesn't have that but just dont go pulling the trigger when the storage bins open. And no you can't charge it with the original dyson charger anymore, you have to charge the drill batteries as normal with a dewalt charger. Review: Does what it says! - Nothing to complain about. DeWalt packs all have 5 cells x 3.6V in series and so are actually18V nominal, which many of their batteries actually say on the label. DeWalt just calls it a 20V system because fully charged it will actually hit 20V but then decrease about 2-3 volts as it discharges.
