Soooo worth the money to get amazing scores!
I am utterly shocked at my scores!! First of all while studying for this test for the last month, and after taking practice test after practice test, I was convinced I was going to fail the math portion of the test... I purchased this book as well as another to help me. I do very well in English which was not a big concern of mine and I also do very well in math; but I have been out of school for 10 years and like most everyone, was nervous to fail. The day of the test, the questions were WAY harder then I felt I prepared for. Out of all my studying and practicing while taking the test I thought I was going to forsure fail...even the English part I was so confident in, took me by surprise to be very different then expected and had many vocabulary words I had never learned. Thinking I was definitely going to fail the math portion and only barely pass the rest, THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE HAPPENED!! I scored the highest out of my tests on math!! I scored in the above average range on all parts of my test (besides the essay) and passed by only a few points to be put in ADVANCED MATH!I’m shocked!!! I know For a fact I wouldn’t have been able to get even close to the score I got without this book. To be honest I didn’t understand some of the concepts as much as I should have to feel fully prepared but this book teaches you enough, and WELL ENOUGH, to get you to do great. Im so happy I purchased this guide and I really recommend this to anyone nervous about taking this test! Reading this book even once a week will help you get a better score then not reading at all!! IF YOUR NERVOUS BUY THIS NOW!

Really did help prepare for testing
I purchase the “Accuplacer Secrets guide“ awhile back for my son and now, years later, my daughter is going to use it.My son and I both took the practice test before ever going through the book just to see how we would do, and we both did poorly. I think it helped for him to see that I did poorly too. After reading through the book he did great! We mainly focused on the reading portion because he’s always been strong in math.He needed to take the Acculpacer in order to take concurrent classes at a local community college. After taking the test he was told he did amazing and scored high enough in all areas to take any class he wanted to. It was a confidence boost for him.Thank you for this book! I have recommended it to several friends.

Great Review Material
I have been out of school for quite some time and decided that I was going to go back to work on a degree while I worked. Since I've been out of school for so long but had to take the Accuplacer test I thought it might be a good idea to go through and get a refresher on all the stuff that I was sure I forgot about. Overall this book does a great job going through section by section on the different material that you will be tested on. It breaks down each subject and gives information on learning the material, and then also has review sections where you can test yourself. Even after over 15 years of being out of school, I still placed well beyond what I expected to after studying with this book for about 3 weeks before the test. I would highly recommend anyone taking the Accuplacer go through with this guide and study prior to taking the test. They give some decent process of elimination techniques for test taking that not everyone might be aware of, and also, some other generic test taking techniques that may help people with questions they are not sure of. The only addition I wish they had was a simulated Accuplacer test environment on the computer that you could do and then review what you missed and what sections to focus on. After reviewing this book, I got a perfect score on the reading comprehension, a 7/10 on the writing portion, a perfect score on the arithmetic, and entry level algebra comprehension, and a 62/120 on the college algebra comprehension placing me well enough to get out of taking a few below college level classes.

This is a good study guide for anyone who will be taking the Accuplacer test before starting college. It covers the three main topics on the exam, which are 1) basic math and algebra, 2) some entry level college advanced math, and 3) reading comprehension. It’s well organized, and easy to follow. It builds on basic concepts before moving to the harder topics. Here’s some of the math stuff you’ll learn : equations, graphing, trigonometry, quadratic equations, polynomial algebra, factors, etc. Now, if you know pretty much nothing about this stuff because you completely flunked math in high school, frankly, this book probably isn’t going to get you up to speed. In that case, no book is going to be much help; students like this are why colleges created remedial math classes. But many people heading off to college only need to brush up in these areas. They learned about this stuff in high school, and did OK, but they’ve forgotten it. They just need to get up to speed so they can pass the Accuplacer and skip remedial courses in college. If that describes you, this book is just what you need. The same goes for the reading comprehension part. It’s well organized and flows logically, and is easy to follow. But if you struggled to make D’s in high school English, this book probably won’t get you over the hump. But for most of us, who only need our memories jogged, this book should help you pass the Accuplacer. It also has practice tests in both math and English, which is really helpful.
