With the Optical output set to PCM it worked well. It was used to get stereo TV Sound for someone who is hearing impaired. There is an independent volume control on the unit. It does need a USB power supply to operate. The power cable is supplied but not the 5v power module. Set up is simple provided you can set the TV to PCM

I purchased a JBL wireless speaker to use with my LG Smart TV, but I encountered an issue with the Bluetooth connection between the two devices. This optical converter proved to be a great solution and was easy to set up between the TV and the JBL speaker. One important detail to note is that it doesn’t work when selecting the "Optical Wire Only" option on the TV. Instead, you must select the "TV Speaker + Optical Wire" option for it to function properly. Overall, it’s a good product at a great price.

Worked great

I purchased this item to be able to use my Bluetooth headphones with my non-Bluetooth television. I had to pair this item with a Bluetooth adapter that I purchased separately. This item connected with the television via an audio optical cable and paired with Bluetooth adapter via a 3.5 mm audio cable. An important step was to change the audio setting in the television settings from Dolby to PCM. Works well except for the volume is not as loud as I would like it to overcome the sound of the exercise equipment I am using while watching television. Under normal conditions, the volume setting is just fine.

I have a Samsung smart TV that doesnt have 3.5 mm AUX ports . I have a set of older speakers with only AUX ports. What to do to get these to work together? This gadget is the answer. Basically, It converts the signal coming from my new fangled TV to something my old fangled speakers can understand. The directions to set it up are easy to understand. When I first set it up (its actually very easy, and you can probabaly figure it out without instructions) I was hearing alot of feedback from my speakers. They easily explain fixes for this - in my case, the 3.5 mm end was not pushed all the way into the little power pack. Once I did that - it all worked great. I'm very happy with this purchase and very gratified to be able to continue to use speakers that I've had forever and wanted to keep. My TV sounds great now.

I tried to hook up some speakers but the static is REALLY BAD. I could barely turn it above 30-40% volume. They worked but unless you just want low level sound I'd look for a higher quality piece of equipment.
