Cracking little welder
Bought this on the advice of a Youtube friend. Vwcoco, who'd reviewed it on his channel. It's not for blasting mega amps into think plate steel but, works perfectly fine at what it's made to do! Brilliant for car body work and thin steel, even though I've used on 2mm steel with no problems what so ever. Torch has a nice and positive feel to it. The £60 gift card off the selling price sealed the deal for me. If you're looking for a welder that is light and boy is it light compared to my older transformer stuff, that doesn't blow holes through light steel all the time. I'd recommend this

Great welder, doesn't last long though!!!!!
Bought this in September of 2023, used it literally 8 times for around a total of 3.5 hours welding, and now the motor driving the wire has somehow broken from the feed wheel and won't spin it. Up until that point I was very impressed, but I suppose cheap parts don't last.

Read this before buying!
Ok, so this machine has great potential, and would have probably been worthy of 5 stars but..... If you intend on using it for gas mig welding then ideally you will need a different feed roller. Hitbox only provide a roller with 0.8mm and 1.0mm knurled V grooves. Knurled grooves are ideally intended for flux core wire for gasless welding but for solid core mig wire it is best to use smooth V grooved rollers. Now here is the funny thing... trying to find replacement rollers for the feed unit used on these machines is almost impossible! The rollers have a round bore with a keyway, which can be found quite easily if you're looking for 30mm diameter ones, unfortunately, the ones you will need are 25mm diameter which are available, but only with square centre holes. Ok, so maybe you will just use the knurled groove roller that is supplied for gas mig welding, but the chances are, it will damage the wire and you will end up with all sorts of problems. Also, it makes finding a 0.6mm roller difficult if you decide to do gasless welding with 0.6mm flux core wire which would be preferable for car body work. Essentially, Hitbox have sent these machines out set up for gasless welding only and have made it very difficult for buyers to use them reliably with gas. To be honest, I'm not impressed, but am not giving up as I will get some rollers made suitable for the job. I just want to give people a heads up about this silly little issue that hitbox could have avoided by using standard components.

Great beginner kit
Great value for money. Easy to set up and use - I was up and going within a few minutes. Fair to say it needs practice to get good results but overall I am very pleased.

Mig Inverter
The display screen is hard to read due to dark colours, and they don't make it clear that the welding wire is flux cored. The connection instructions could be clearer too. It works well when set up correctly.
